You know, when I had my gall bladder removed, I was fine until about the fourth person came in and asked me that I understood I could DIE from this procedure. A little less freaking of the patient would be nice when doing standard dime-a-day surgeries. But this brings home just how badly a standard operation can go.
Keep strong, and keep your dad strong too. Prayer really does heal. A friend had a brain aneurysm last July/August, and although she's not driving yet she is back to work and pretty much everything else. Prayer, and people caring for her.
And I agree, looks like everyone in the crowd sure was enjoying the band!
>'Kat, still praying here for you and your dad, Geh

I've been in to see my dad as much as possible over the past three weeks . Sunday was the first time I was able to see him while he was awake " the other times he was either sleeping in surgery , or just after surgery and still pretty much under ". I can't even discribe how hard it was to see him . I was in the room with him , along with my sister and my mom . he recognizes us but he was trying to tell us something and we could not understand what he was saying. He was trying to pull himself up but couldn't . eventually I gave him a hug and told him to try to relax and I'd be back . I had to leave the room so he didn't see me break down . It was so hard to see the mental condition he was in along with how weak he was. He also developed some kind of ulcer in his right eye which has caused a film to cover it and they have to put salve in his eyes. The doctors also think he may make an infection somewhere but they are unable to locate it at this point. They think this because of the problem he has been having with his breathing and heart rate going up a times. Up until yesterday I was able to talk about it if someone asks how he is doing but know Its going to be hard.

Oh geh, I can't imagine what it's like seeing your dad like that. I'm not sure I could be strong in his presence like you're managing. But then I cry at Hallmark commercials and the Budweiser Superbowl ad too.
Have the dr's offered any prognosis for your dad's recovery at all?
Still praying for you!

Thanks for keeping us posted George,, I will pray even harder today for him,,sometimes things get worse before they get better.Im sorry you have to go through this man,,life has a way of kicking us in the tail every so often.
I pray your dad George Sr. will get the strength to pull through this,,and Gods will be on his life..amen
Remember what Jesus did for us at the Cross,,if we believe in that we will all be together forever in eternity,,all of us and our family,,there will be no more heartache, sickness, disease,or crying. He set the example for us,,and as long as we are sorry for the wrong we have done,,it doesn't matter how bad we where here on earth,,God's mercy and kindness will forgive us...and present us Justified because of the sacrifice of his Son. I don't mean to get religious on here but there is no other way,,i have searched far and wide,,the only way is Jesus and the cross. The promise is we will all be together forever and that my friend is awesomeness!!
If your dad doesn't know Jesus,,tell him that Jesus loves him,,and can forgive and heal him,,all he has to do is ask.The thief that was nailed to the cross along side Jesus is in paradise today,,he never went to church or did any religious works,,he just believed that Jesus was who he claimed to be,,its as easy as that.
You might know this stuff already but I just wanted to share my faith with you guys during this tough time for George. There is no peace in life unless it comes from above...

Still praying for you! >'Kat At this point all they have said was he has a long road ahead of him. They are trying to find the infection through scans , and do not want to open him up again if they don't have to . the doctors did say that he will more then likely have to go through rehab to get his motor skills back and possibly a speech therapist. They first need to find and take care of the infection . they said he is still not out of the woods yet and that he survived something most do not. There were concerns my mom and dad had before the surgery that they shared with the doctors . it had to do with my dad and what preparations my parents thought he should have taken. They were concerned about what the doctors did not have him do , but they said it wasn't necessary. Come to find out , all of the preparations on all of the medical sites for his type of surgery had what my parents were concerned about as a necessity before the surgery. There where actually a couple major steps he should have done that the doctors didn't have him do . thankfully upmc in Pittsburgh was able to take him and save his life for now. All that matters right now is my dad getting better , and I thank u all for your thoughts and prayers.

Awesome!! Thats a great report George! Glad to hear George Sr. is on the upswing. You guys should really question what those doctors did and did not do properly,,when it comes to a loved one I think they should take every precaution to make sure they do things exactly by the book,,especially if ones life hangs in the balance of there actions. Thats what they get paid the big bucks for

Thats what they get paid the big bucks for My parents were concerned that the doctors didn't have him do a cleanse " that is a bowel cleanse " and they also had no restrictions on what he should or should not eat or drink in the pre 24 hrs before surgery. So they removed 15 inches of his intestine while they were full of , u know what . on all of the medical sites we've read they say a cleanse has to be done and no food 24 hrs before surgery. They also say that most doctors have the patient start an antibiotic 24 hrs before surgery to keep the risk for infection down . the doctors at the hospital that he had the surgery did not have him do any of that . We did get some news that may be good. They said they still don't see any infection on all of the scans and it may be that they didn't get rid of the first infection completely and antibiotics should take care of it. Hopefully. Thanks again.

Stupid doctors,,we count on them to help us but seems like they hurt us worse...I'm not to particular of some of these middle eastern doctors either,,most of them I have met seem like they don't care,,not sure if its their religion or what(we wont go there),,they just rub me wrong...

We just got some bad news yesterday. I'm not sure if you knew or not " I'll make it short" my wife " actually girl friend of 12 yrs " and I have two little girls . I'm sure you know about Victoria and her heart problems, but after each pregnancy my wife had tumors grow in her brain that caused migraines and other problems. So after each child was born she eventually had to have brain surgery to remove the mass. Actually after our second little girl they had to do two surgeries because they couldn't remove the entire mass from the first angle they went in . thank god there has been no mental damage caused by the tumors or the surgeries. The doctors said that it was probably hormones brought on by the pregnancies causing the masses to grow. Need less to say we are not planning on any more kids , so for the past few yrs she has been receiving a shot to keep her from getting pregnant. I should mention she also has a shunt in her head to help so spinal fluid doesn't build up . it has a tube that runs down in her neck and into her abdomin where the fluid is absorbed into her body. She has to have this because of scar tissue blocking some of the passage between her brain stem and her spine." One of the tumors was on her brain stem and another bigger one deeper in her brain" . thursday she had to go in for a ct scan due to her having some reoccurring headaches the ct scans showed a new mass that has grown in place of the one that was deeper in her brain " probably caused by the shot keeping her from getting pregnant " . she has to go for an MRI thursday to get a better picture of the mass . the last time she had surgery she was at Allegheny general hospital the same time Victoria was having her second heart surgery at Childrens hospital , so I was going back and fourth between hospitals . i d like to ask if everyone could also keep her in your prayers . her name is Christy harper thanks .

I informed my mom about your Dad feeling better when the doctor said he probably shouldn't have made it,,she was so happy and said we should hold hands an pray as a family more often.
I am going to her house on monday or tues. and we will all pray for your wife bro...
Always remember,,He who is without sin can cast the first stone,,and thats none of us,,Geh,,needs prayer for his family at this time and we who believe in prayer should all stick together as one on here and keep praying for his loved ones.We are the biggest, best, scooter forum on the net!!!! One big Family!!!
I understand there are some who don't believe in prayer and God and they have that right as well, nobody should ever force their beliefs on anybody,we are all individuals.
But those who believe lets keep praying for our brother and his family who are desperately in need of divine intervention. I cant imagine how his wife(girlfriend) must feel with all those problems.Lets lift each other up,,not put each other down. All of us fall short,,and anybody can change for the better...
