Hello, I finally started to work on rebuild my scooter engine, and today i took out the engine from the frame. I also took out the rear shock absorber, and i have a question. You can see in the picture where i marked it with the red arrow, there is some kind of a rubber gasket, and i think it's not supposed to be there. i think it was disconnected from the top. There was also some oil at the bottom of the shock absorber, and the bushing inside the case needs to be replaced. What do you think about this rubber gasket, was it disconnected from where it supposed to be? Is this shock absorber needs to be replaced? Thank you.

Mine is liek that and mine is new, so I think they are supposed to be like that.
Oil coming from the shock? Or was it from something else? If oil is coming out of the shock then it will need to be replaced as it will not absorb shocks well without the fluid that is supposed to be inside it.

The rubber boot is to keep it from bottoming out. It is just were it should be. Now if it is leaking oil then it is time to get ya a new one.

That is 100% correct , the rubber bushing is there to prevent bottoming out and metal on metal contact if bottomed out. It doesn't matter if its at the top , bottom or in the middle , it slides freely up and down.

It looks as if there is grease and or oil and dirt all over the thing ! I would clean them up and see if you can tell if its leaking from anywhere.

Hi,
Thank you all for the answers. it wasn't full of oil, but it felt like it's oily at the bottom. could be just dirt. In the picture, where the bottom bolt, it's looks like grease, maybe because i used some WD-40 on the bolt, before trying to open it.
