Hi, I'm from the uk my commute to work was around 3 hours a day, decided to get a scooter it's now 40 minuets. I bought a 50cc jonway madness yy50qt-31 from www.ebay.co.uk/itm/50CC-SCOOTER-MOPED-BLACK-BLUE-RED-NEW-64-PLATE-JONWAY-FREE-TOP-BOX-OR-HELMET-/231368948595?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item35dea9fb73
thats where the problems started..
1 year warranty is none existent before you ask.
i have had electrical problems including a faulty battery, faulty horn, bad connectors making all my lights go out during a ride down a very dark country lane with no street lights, engine not turning off, mechanical problems such as the headstock bearing going making steering almost impossible, ignition barrel coming loose, problems starting it the list goes on
Maintenance: oil changes at 250 500 750 1000 1500 2000 3000 and 3500km last change was to fully synthetic
gear oil Changed at 1000 and 3000km
everything tightened up at each 1000km intervals
air filter cleaned at 1500 and replaced at 3000km
valves adjusted at 2500km
fuel filter cleaned at 3500km
spark plug checked at 3500 km hazel nut colour with no deposits so air / fuel seems good
both breaks inspected and thoroughly cleaned at 3500km
variator was somehow bent and shredded the belt (baotian style large starter gear on outside not inside) so variator and belt was replaced 500km ago clutch disassembled and cleaned / re-greased at same time to remove belt remnants.
carb detail cleaned and re adjusted at 3500km
Current milage 4000km
bike de-restricted top speed 45mph down hill 40mph on flats and anything from 1- 28mph depending on the hill (takes a long time to get to these speeds)
im a big guy at 6,3" and 16 stone my problem is the acceleration has got slowly worse and worse since new, it has never been great but is is now to the point I have to push with my feet 0-10 mph takes 18 - 20 seconds and cannot stop on a hill or else I have to get off and push (hit a max speed of 2mph up a hill yesterday and was overtaken by a woman on a mobility scooter)
the engine bogs down and stays at a really low rpm until about 10mph then after that it smoothly accelerates up-to it's top end, I have checked the carb and all gaskets for leaks using carb cleaner all is fine, it also bogs down between 18 - 26 mph when I first fill up with a full tank of fuel after 20 miles or so when there is less fuel in the tank it's ok and smooth in that area.. weird!
im thinking of upgrading to 1000 or 1500 rpm clutch and contra springs would this help? Are they all the same size width depth Etc from what I have seen they are. It's a standard 139qmb engine current roller weights are 6.5's, i will change to a Kevlar belt when replacing the parts if necessary. Should I replace contra and clutch springs or one at a time if both should they be same rating all they all the same size for compatibility?
I have noticed in low revs the belt is a few mil from the top of the rear pulley hence not as good take off I'm presuming a better contra will help that. + I'm hoping the clutch springs will
help it past the low rev boggy take off issue it has and ensure it's closer to the power and when taking off
there is also some banging from the belt at low revs and a little at idle I'm presuming if it's slightly down the rear pully this will cause slack and the banging I am hearing (the banging is definitely the belt) (it is the right size)
not sure if the above will help or if there is something more killing it, I was thinking my air / fuel is too rich which would explain the bogging down at acceleration and possibly the bogging down mid range after a refuel but looking at the spark plug it is perfect colour and condition.
i knew nothing before getting this bike so it's been a big learning curve, I have been on this site hundreds of times over the last few months so thought I would finally join and ask directly for help and hopefully be able to help others.
first time using a forum and have read the rules but if I have made a mistake please be kind, I only have a few months experience with these little machines but like to think I am a quick learner looking at what I have already done.
i apologise for the long un organised messy post just wanted to give as much history and detail as possible.
I have very little cash spare to spend on this so if anyone is from the uk has tried different springs and has some spare I don't mind buying them from you if they are new enough and cheap enough to test with
thanks in advance to all who help.
