Ok, so i haven't been able to get my 150cc gyg engine to start. Believe me when i say i had thoroughly cleaned the carb, replaced cdi, replaced coil, coil wire and spark plug boot. Voltages all tested properly. Grounds checked and cleaned. Plug would spark when touching engine but when screwed into head the engine just wouldn't fire. Clean tank, petcock working properly, float operating properly.
I have a blown up gy6 that I decided to swap the stator into my gy6 just to see. Both are ac engines. I pulled both stators and compared them and found a difference. The stator from the engine that wouldn't fire had the green wire attached properly. The stator i was swapping onto the engine had the green wire attached as well as a wire from a winding soldered to the ground tab.
The second stator with 2 wires on the ground tab bolted in and the engine fired right up like there was never a pproblem.
Why would one stator have a winding wire attached to the ground tab and another stator only have the green wire attached?

Big difference between those two Stators bro, the one on the left has a Dedicated POLE(the covered one not showing the windings) to feed the CDI (AC CDI) while the one on the right does not which means the one on the right is for a DC CDI which would be fed 12v from with the KEY ON or a wire straight from the batteries positive post. Thats interesting because the hard starting engine came new in box with what you indicate as a dc stator but with an AC CDI. Ran fine for 1000miles. This chinese stuff is so bizarro!
I plugged the used stator into the cdi that came new with this dc stator and the scooter is running like a top!

Well at least now you know why. Some stators have TWO dedicated poles to feed the CDI and some one, they are bizzaro. Alleyoop

How is it possible for the engine to run 1000 miles with a DC stator and ac cdi?

Take a picture of the plugs coming off both stators so I can see the wire colors and the loose wires that have a male or female connector. Now that motor should have come with a different R/R as well. Some will have 3 wires going into a plug and 2 loose wires, some will have 4 wires going into a plug plus 2 loose wires, some will have 5 wires etc.. It is funny that when you buy new 150 motor a lot of them come with a stator for a DC CDI. I Think they figure they may be able to get more money out of you when you call complaining it does not plug into your current harness and order a different stator or order a different R/R. 'Update: No headlights on 2011 150ZK Vogue/Auto Moto trike Regulator is off via the base of trunk, 2 0f 6 wires are bare and also have green corrosion-water damaged, its AC, a six pin male connector, and connected to a 8 pole stator?. Ordered from scrappy and they have to find one…at this point I expected that. lol '
Found an exact 6 wire/6 pole connector match YYYGWR, a china outfit on ebay usps 7-20 days. No one here could match it and they questioned the 6 wire color code.
My question: ALLY, is my AC stator an 8 pole like one shown or 11?

I do not understand your question, both stators in the pic you posted are 8 pole stators? Alleyoop

I didn't post the picture of both 8 pole stators… my question was about matching one of those stators to my 6 pole connector regulator YYYGWR - or is my regulator a match for an 11 pole?

Usually for 11 pole stator you have a 7 pin R/R, but since yours is a little odd ball I would check the stator to be sure. Some of these motors you would be surprised what stators they come with. Especially if you just buy a stand alone motor then the stator that is in there may not match your scooters harness. Alleyoop
