Thanks for asking.
I happened to stumble across 3 bags containing vacuum hoses. I must have bought them when I got the car, 9 years ago. It turns out they're all the same size & all smaller than the hoses on my scooter. I found 3 different size hoses. I sliced a piece off the end of each & bought 2 feet of each size & some extra clips. The "hose" I was describing yesterday actually turned out to be the spark plug wire. lol My hoses all look pretty new, so I don't know if this is gonna help. Someone also replaced a lot of bolts on this scooter with stainless bolts. I like that and hope to finish the job.
I'm gonna start tearing down the scooter before changing the hoses. Maybe I'll discover an obvious problem. That reminds me, I did see one short hose coming out of the carb that's attached to nothing. Is that normal. I'll get a photo.
I checked the taillight when the motor died today and it was still ON. I think I may have also partially blown out the muffler or gasket. The scooter sounds louder.

Probably just a bad gas cap.

There is a drain hose, that run from the bottom of the carb, to drain the bowl. It will not be attached to anything. t84a is suggesting you may have a bad gas cap. Make sure air can flow through your gas cap vent holes.

OK. The bottom of the gas cap was very clean. The top was very dirty. I'm not sure if this tiny hole was block or not before I cleaned it up. It's very possible that it was blocked. I also peered deeper into the bowels and noticed not one but two nipples without any hose attached. They are just below that short piece of drainage hose we talked about. Should I connect them with a piece of hose?

Let the thing run without the cap. If it doesn't stall, thats your problem.

No those two connectors are there to warm up the carb a little. They used to have a hose from the radiator to the top one and the bottom one back to the radiator. BUT they are not used anymore actually you will see a screw holding the little piece on with the two connectors you can take the connectors off the carb. Alleyoop

I have also just confirmed that the gas cap is not the problem. Cut out at 4.5 miles the first time, 5.5 the second & 6.5 the last time. I just hauled a 5 gallon gas tank in the passenger seat. That big backrest is great for helping to secure large cargo items.

That does not prove it is NOT the gas cap unless of course you had the gas cap cracked open during these times. It all depends on how much fumes are building up in the gas tank which would then stop the flow of fuel out of the tank. Have you adjusted your valves by the way? Is this a Helix 244cc motor or a Linahi 257cc motor? Tight valves will cause loss of compression AFTER the motor gets nice and hot and can happen at any time it all depends on the heat being generated. Alleyoop

Is this a Helix 244cc motor or a Linahi 257cc motor? I ran this last test with the gas cap OFF. No, I didn't adjust the valves. Still kind of afraid of messing them up and I didn't think that was the problem since the bike restarts immediately and runs fine for another 6 or 7 miles. I'm not sure what motor it is? The motor, wheel and all was replaced on this scooter. It says CFMoto on the side of the black cover that is visible on the port side.

Then you have this motor which adjusting the valves is a piece of cake you can see the adjusters in this picture they are on the outside of the valve cover. You adjust them while the motor is running just like you would on a car.

Yes it would since the carb is already mounted facing forward. Alleyoop

My first scooter ran like this. The problem was the carburetor fuel bowl level was off. It was too high causing the bike to run rich. The spark plug was almost black. The black carbon trails on the plug were conductive. Every once in a while a carbon trail would short the spark plug. The bike would restart instantly.
