I have a gy6 150cc US Titan. It's a Tank or Roketta style scooter in my avatar picture. When I am at W.O.T., even for a short period of time, sometimes the bike seems to lose ignition. It is erratic and does not always happen. Usually I have to let off the throttle for several seconds to get it to work properly again, often slowing down to 30-40mph in the process, then it kicks back in and runs okay. It seems to usually happen around 6500-7500 RPM, however the bike has clocked 9000 rpm, by mistake, so I don't think it has any governor on it. Any advice?

Try cracking the gas tank open a little it could be the tank is not venting and fuel will not flow to the pump or petock.

Thank you. I will give that a try.

Sounds somewhat similar to what I went through last week. How are the temperatures in your area? I had pondered the gas tank vent issue for my own problems, but the stumbles/loss of power happened after being stopped for a time, so ther should have been plenty of time for any tank-vacuum issue to resolve.

I tried that and it didn't work. It still stalls, even with the gas tank cap off. Also, the cap has good air flow in and out. Don't ask me how I know that.

Me too. I was reading about another poster here with the same or similar issue. I am considering buying a new cdi and coil. I had read in one forum that the intake tube to the carburetor could collapse under vacuum, but I don't know. It's so sudden though, and it is odd that it takes a few seconds to recover. The temperatures right now range from around 75 at night to in the middle of the day.

Sounds like classic low vacuum condition with the vacuum fuel pump or petcock cutting out until you close the throttle which increases intake vacuum and gets things pumping or opened up again. Does that bike have the fuel tank above the engine under the seat or below the floorboards?

If your fuel tank is above the carburetor at the back of the bike, you may have a vacuum operated petcock valve. I had that exact same problem with mine.
I removed the vacuum petcock and installed a regular manual fuel petcock valve and that worked awesome!!!

rockynv, my tank is down low. i don't think i should remove my pump, as the fuel needs to go up about a a foot. someone suggested it might be a float bowl running out of fuel. that would explain the delay in it getting going again.

As I recall, it turned out that Rocky was right, and I had a vacuum leak that was keeping the fuel pump from operating at high speed. Another case closed.
