I am still trying to get my 2007 Baja 150 to start and run when it is cold. During spring and summer it starts with no issues but if the mercury dips below about 50 degrees it is difficult to impossible to start. I have tried to follow the directions and jack the throttle 6 or 7 times prior to turning the key on but it just will not start. I did replace the carb with a new carb last year and that helped starting when warm but did nothing for cool to cold weather starting. What am I missing?

When cold the motors need more fuel, do you have the ENRICHER plugged in?
Twisting the throttle will do nothing if the carb does not have a pump by the way. If it does have a pump then every time you open the throttle enough it squirts some gas into the venturi. Alleyoop

Yeah, I'm just curious who told you to jack the throttle? It's a CV carb with no accelerator pump. Some 250s have a pump but very few 150s. But I digress, I'm assuming you set your valves?

I might be way out in left field on this one, but if read and understood correctly how the enricher works, I turn my key on and wait about 30 seconds for the enricher to do it's thing before trying to start my scooter.
I read somewhere on this forum that when testing the enricher you have to give it some time and then measure the needle length from before to after a period of time. If the needle moves slowly then I gathered that maybe it needs time to get to the right length for a cold start which is why I started turning on the key and waiting a bit first before starting it up. It seems to help.
And if this query isn't too far off topic, maybe someone could enlighten me as to how exactly the enricher works. It's an electrical device but where is it getting it's information from? What tells the needle to move and how does it know how far to move?

The user's manual told me to do that. Prior to doing that it would never even think about starting when cold. It made no sense to me either. When it is hot I do not need to do anything.

I read somewhere on this forum that when testing the enricher you have to give it some time and then measure the needle length from before to after a period of time. If the needle moves slowly If I understand the system right you only have about 2 minutes. After 2 minutes the enricher will stop working, at least that is what I was told and there is no garauntee it is right.

WOW!! you ought to hang the person that told you that. The Enricher DOES NOT WORK until the motor is running PERIOD. You can turn on the KEY and sit there all day and the ENRICHER will not do a thing. The Enricher gets voltage from the Stator once it starts to make Electricity and does keeps on getting Electricity until you shut the motor off. As for the CARB, if it does not have a pump you can twist the throttle all day long and all it is doing is OPENING AND CLOSING the Butterfly. Very easy to find out look at your CARB on the THROTTLE SIDE toward the REAR of it by the AIR FILTER side and see if it has a PUMP or NOT. Alleyoop Here is a 30mm CARB with a PUMP:

Take the ENRICHER OFF and look at it and see whether it is EXTENDED OR RETRACTED: Let us know which pic matchs your Enricher. Alleyoop PIC #1: PIC #2:
