Hey everyone. Just want to start off by saying I always have followed this site for some great advice on keeping my scoot running. I have a Roketa mc-23 150. No mods on the engine at all. I had both my exhaust bolts snap the other day and I know how to fix them with easy outs and such. My question is how do you get to the underside of the scooter to do the work. Is there a way to jack it up higher or do you lay it down on its side. Which ever way you have used how did you go about it. Thanks in advance!!!

I think it's so easy to loosen the complete engine so I do that if i have some work to do on the engine.

Welcome to the site!
I had similar trouble with my old Chinese 150. I found I could access the underneath pretty well by laying on my back with the scooter on the center-stand. Uncomfortable, but "doable"... I also on occasion, padded a wall with blankets and tipped the scooter over at around a 45 degree angle against the wall, giving better access to the bottom. Laying it all the way on its side is not a good idea, due to fuel, oil and battery "stuff" going places it should not go... LOL!
I don't know why the exhaust studs break so often on these. Some Chinese steel is extremely hard, and thus "brittle" and may be the problem. I replaced mine with "grade-8" BOLTS from Lowe's, rather than studs and nuts, and had no trouble after that.
Hope this may help...

Myself, I use three strong ropes and suspend it roughly 2 feet in the air. One rope on each handlebar grip and one on the rear frame if you take the seat pan out.
That is how I tore 2 150cc's and a 50cc down to the frame for parts/scrap.

For that I just pull the pivot pin and shocks so I can slide the engine out and put it on the bench. An old piece of cardboard, carpet or moving blanket to lay on and you can usually do it from the side but I am getting too old for that.
Whatever you do resist the urge to hang it from the rafters and crawl under. Leave the trapeze act for a circus performer.

I concur. Really not that much more difficult to drop the engine/transmision/wheel package out of the frame and throw it up on the bench. Easier to work on. Easier to see what you're doing. Especially if your're working with a drill and taps.
