Any one had any experience(s) with the 3 ground strap spark plugs? Better or worse performance / ground straps breaking off / issues gapping, etc ? image here: 3 ground spark plugThanks |

I tried to order them through a local parts store and asked at the dealership and the common response was that they were prone to fouling and only good for specific engines.
NKG states that the spark will only jump to the one electrode with the least resistance so the thought is that as the electrodes wear the spark will jump to the next new one until all 4 are equally worn and then it will make the rounds again potentially giving you longer spark plug life. Possibly of benefit in a fuel injected lean burning engine however in a carbureted scooter maybe running with an enrichener and getting an occasional spritz of engine oil from the purge tube not so good.

couldn't see how you would gap them, might be gaped out of the box. I know the 4 strap ones are that way. In theory it works but in practice I would see it hurting more than helping.

rockynv -> Thanks for the info. ... "prone to fouling". That's an issue. They also mentioned harder to clean too if they get fouled. They also have a staggered electrode version but that is only for an even smaller number of very specific engines. |

hoedy, what I was told and might be rubbish , is that the actual spark is reduced and the load on the cables is increased. I have no idea----

When the multiple parts stores give up the extra profit and say don't go there even though it would be a pay up front no returns no exchange special order that should tell you something,
