No fire -cdi, coil and plug test okay (or replaced). sooooooooooo - magneto, right?
What are we missing? Pick up trigger coil (pick up) is not giving any voltage reading when cranked. (r/bk is 40v +) both on AC, tested while cranking, with a new 5 wire stator and magneto - both, 8 pole.
We've replaced the trigger on the new stator after no spark, as the pin was flush.
The trigger is centered and about .02mm gap with the raised magnet on the magneto.
From the cdi we have run a ground jumper and removed the kill switch wire.
Trigger wire appears in tack.
What are we not thinking of, what else to try OR retry?
thanks to all

What ohm reading are you getting on your pickup wire and ground should be between 40 and 300 ohms,,if not the coil is bad. You say the wire appears in tack,,did you do a continuity test on the wire,,could be broke inside the insulation? Test the plug wire also,,Ive seen them bad,,especially the connection at the coil where it screws into the stud,,never liked that idea.. Your getting AC to CDI 40v is a little low should be closer to 75v. Make sure the motor has a good solid ground to the frame also...

Take the GROUND JUMPER WIRE OFF you are grounding out the CDI which results in NO FIRE. That is how the KILLSWITCH and KEY OFF SHUTS THE MOTOR OFF by GROUNDING the CDI. Alleyoop

what did you attach the ground jumper to ? I would check for pulse voltage at the the bullet connector at the stator harness with it unplugged , then plugged in and see if there is a change . I have seen them fire for spark as low as .02vac .

John I checked the AC voltage from my good known pulse pickup coil and it was .02vac while cranking,,I checked it at the CDI plug. The meter wont go any lower then 200vac so it could have been .15-.25 vac ya know...I do have a meter with a 200m and 2v setting I may try later to document a more accurate reading.

None of that testing is going to do anything UNTIL he takes the GROUND JUMPER WIRE off the frame or wherever he has it grounded he is grounding out the CDI just like the killswitch would to kill the motor or by turning the KEY OFF. HE WILL NEED it to kill the motor if it starts he can then just touch the wire to the frame and it should kill the motor. Alleyoop

If you disconnected the black/white wire and jumped from the greens to ground it should be ok if you grounded the black/white wire port it will not . I'm unsure if I'm understanding what you did correctly . John

When I first read the op post I thought he meant the green wire,,don't know why he would ground out the blk/white wire for no reason unless he wasn't getting spark before hand??

Many think that it needs to be grounded for the CDI to release the voltage to the COIL BUT it is the OPPOSITE. Grounding the CDI is how you kill the motor and you do that two ways turning the KEY TO OFF or HITTING THE KILLSWITCH. Alleyoop

Scooter fixed, but "I" still can't get my thank-you's and info. to post (newbie). I have tried both normal and "post quick reply", but I never see it in the string. Soo this is a test - using "reply" from the last post (alleyoop) instead of "Quick reply" section at the bottom. roy
