take it off and fill it with gas and splash it around,do that tell it comes out clear

Are you talking about the manifold or muffler....and what does carbon build-up do to the exhaust ?
The tone of my muffler isn't as low as it was new....would like to have that sound again.

The packing in the muffler is has burned and no longer muffles some of the sound waves, so it becomes louder. You have to take the core out and repack.

by his sig i would say he has a expansion chamber pipe, not a muffler but a silencer

MEK is a great solvent that should break it up . I would not think carbon build up in the exhaust would be too bad unless you have a clogged baffle tube or cone but since you may have an unrestricted exhaust it does not apply . The muffler uses fiberglass packing and www.cyclegear.com sells packing for 10 dollars or so . I would be more concerned about excessive carbon in the head and on the piston crown but since you can scratch aluminum with a finger nail be noid to sand it even with 400+ wet sand paper . I have used Marvell Mystery Oil in cars to clean them out and it smokes since its burning oil but not that bad . Have not used it on a 2T so unsure how it would do . |
