I purchased this scooter 2 months ago new and it seemed to drive fine for a while, but slowly lost its top end speed and then lost low end power as well. This is what I found when I disassembled the CVT. The belt is a standard 699-18-30 belt, however the measured width is now just under 11mm. The black on the pulleys I feel will clean off, but I'm not sure about the pitting on the drive face gear. I've ordered that part new and intend to replace, but am curious about what would cause this. I removed the clutch assembly as well and nothing seems to be stuck/broken/odd about anything on its own. I intend to get a new belt and watch the cvt operate to see if anything operates oddly together. Can anyone provide any insight or advice? Thanks!

Either excessive heat, your variator, or clutch. Your variator should not have that much belt past(What I call the black remains) on it, so there is defiantly a problem. The parts are so cheap I would just replace the clutch and variator to easily solve the problem. Now if its over heating that's another thing.

The geared pulley looks like it has corrosion. Possibly a bad casting from the factory, possibly it had moisture trapped inside when wrapped in plastic for shipping. If it was the belt causing that, it would be consistent around the entire face, not just on 3/4 of it.
I'm not sure about the variator pulley, I've never seen that kind of buildup from a belt. Perhaps someone who has can clue us into what could cause it.

I'd suggest you check the condition of your roller weights and the 3 "v" guides that go on the back plate, before you do anything else---especially before you put that new belt on.
It would be a good idea to clean all that belt dust out of there, too.
It's as if that rust spot on the drive face was eating that belt for breakfast?

You lost low end because your belt is slipping and you lost top end because the belt is unable to climb up the variator , this is all due to the belt wear . How long was the belt on ? It's probably been on there for a while . I think you will be fine if u purchased a new belt . You will also need to buy a new drive face unless u can clean it up .

You def need to be careful who u order from , this is the place I always order from . I know it's not the right belt but I'm sure they have it . They have over 10,000 orders and a 100% positive feedback . The belt usually gets to pa from Georgia in two days , three at the most . m.ebay.com/itm/280976400302?nav=SEARCH. I recomend a gates powerlink Kevlar belt , you can't get any better . A true bando will snap before a true powerlink Kevlar belt will . I've never had one break in my cvt And that says a lot . I have a used bando that I took out a couple yrs ago because it wore very quick in my cvt . I have to use a gates Kevlar due to the stress caused by the springs I use in my clutch . Even the cheap so called Kevlar belts snapped in under 300 miles in my cvt .

you havent had that scooter for long. that belt looks way low in the back. it should be riding at the top. are you the first person to buy this scooter? because it looks maybe like your contra spring is wore out and the belt is falling down into teh drive pulleys. and a real bando belt doesnt look like that. at least accordign to this guy who ahs accress to japanese parts in taiwan. the autotech355 guy. ive bought a bunch of stuff from him and its never junk. even the taiwan stuff, running an italian big bore 2-stroke kit on my scooter with a crank from him. heres a pic of another bando belt. my stock bando doesnt have vs on it. and this is a copy. the other one i linked to is a real one. notice it has green. and notice it says on the side, made in japan. a stock one is black, like oem but says honda or soemthing on it. and doesnt say vs on it. thats a chinese copy. and my gates i bought lasted me 3500 miles on a stock motor before the side started to rip and it would of broke pretty soon. my stock oem belt i bought has been on my italian big bore kit, for 3500 miles and is still in ok shape. bando belt

The bando I pictured above came stock with the new engine I ordered so it is black , no fake , and that's why I use gates Kevlar belts they will outlast the bando easy . The new engine also came with a keihn carb . I was pretty surprised by the quality parts .

He said the belt measures 11mm , that's why it sits so far down in the clutch .
