i'v only had my 150cc scoot for 150 km, before i had a 49cc (with bbk) and never took a scoot on the freeway
riding today i realized to get where i was going, Id either go through 2 miles of the 20 mph city streets with lots of lights or a half mile on the freeway. so i chose the freeway. I was thinking how bad could it be. with a slight down hill i went WOT and the scoot topped out at 70 mph (indicated)
thing is, that was the scariest ride ever. its not a windy day (says 5 mph on weather) on but it felt like the wind blew the scoot around way too much. i felt like i could lose it at any second but i didnt want to slow down b/c it's the highway i don't want to end up under a semi. going up the off ramp was a huge relief.
does this match your experience riding on a freeway on a scooter. if so is it some thing you get used to?

What size wheels on your scoot ? I have 13 inch " long case" . They make smaller 150s and larger ones . I usually don't have a prob with wind . I saw a guy on a 150 a couple yrs ago and his scoot was tiny compared to mine . I'd imagine the wind would give him some probs.

I take mine on the 55 mph highway no problem its fairly stable and I keep up and even pass cars. The semi's usually go slower than my scooter and can outrun them. I wouldn't attempt to go in a 70 zone.

It has 12" wheels. but it looks like theres 2-3 inches between the tire and engine case i wonder if 13" wheels and tires would fit? looks like there would be plenty of room, just move the fenders.
though, is it really 12" wheels or does riding on the highway with a little wind just take getting used to?

I don't thinkThe wheels alone would cause any prob with wind , however the size of the scoot and the weight of the rider would . I weight anywhere from 205 to 216 . I know that sounds kinda strange but right now I weight about 204.6. My weight fluctuates from month to month. Depending on a few thinks ,what I eat and drink " of course" some with smaller wheels have smaller style 150's I've seen ones not much bigger or maybe no bigger than a 50cc . I do know the bigger the wheel the more comfortable the control .

I ride my 150cc on the hwy it thin if there is no traffic . One day I was on the LIE in the HOV lane for a while it was ok the further east I went the faster I needed to go , till I had a line of about 4 to 6 cars stacked up behind me . I was maxed out I crossed the double white as not to hold up the flow . Then continued my ride in and out of the right lane . If the road is congested it fine because its slow . one exit 1/2 mile is quick your there for a minute , if it out of your comfort level don't do it . Check your tire pressure be sure your wheels are balanced , all your lights work keep your eyes opened . Open up following distance look far ahead and behind . I'm not a fan of the stock chinese tires its time to replace them warn or not .

I am a big guy, over 6' and a little over 300 lbs. WOT on level ground with my 150 CC scoot I adverage about 52 MPH (GPS Verified). I avoid the freeway, but if traffic is right and the need is high I will get on for short rides on the freeway. Thing is in Texas if the speed limit is 55 people drive 70. I have no issues at all with 'stability'. Just worried about what is coming up in the rear view mirror. Most of the lights in the Dallas area are managed and if you find the sweet spot and can maintain that speed you will hit the majority of lights green. So unless I need to cross a lake or some situation like that were there is not a service road I just don't have the need to hit the freeway.

My first time ever on a scooter was Oct. 2, 2012 -- www.dslretorts.com/Paladin/archives/002932.htmlTwist-and-Go was weird, the little 10"/11" wheels. After 30 miles on the street, including a stretch at 60 mph, I was used enough to get onto the freeway. 20 miles later I knew that is 150cc scooter is totally acceptable on the highway. So I bought one. When the weather warmed up, I went for a longer ride -- www.dslretorts.com/Paladin/archives/002961.html -- 370 miles between dinner and breakfast, about 300 of those miles on the Interstate, including the 30-40 mph winds through San Gorgonio Pass. (It will be time for another June Full Moon in the Mojave, this time on a Friday the 13th.) But.... I started riding 2 wheels on a pedal bicycle before I was 3. First motorcycle was on my 18th birthday when no one could say no. I have learned to trust my bikes. With more experience, you will trust them also.

Gennerally you don't ride a 150 on the Freeway/Interstate as their max limit would be a State Road or Highway. At 65 mph my 150 with 10" wheels was acceptable however it would not have lasted very long at a constant 65 mph running lean at roadway temps over 100 degrees. My 250 with 15" wheels is stable well past 80.

Ah, back in the day (the eighties) you could have taken your 150 on the freeway no problem, as the speed limit was 55mph and only "crazy" people went past 65-70

I participated in a similar thread on another site. I'll take my Vog 260 on highways with a 55 mph limit because I can chug along at 60 in the right lane and no one harasses me. I just can't keep up on a road with a 65 mph limit and feel remotely safe since everyone is going 80. The biggest problem i encounter on the highway is the wind. Sometimes I get so buffeted that I'm totally white knuckle riding and just waiting for the wind to push me over. My suspension does not seem up to the task either.

I have been known to take my 50cc on my countrys Motorway 100kmh limit mostly downhill on the off next exit or when it jambed with traffic and i surf the gap between the lanes. I would never be able to do 100kmh but i can wind it off the chinameter down steep hills one time the belt broke so bad you couldnt read the numbers or brand name it destroyed the plastic fan took 2days to fix cleaning all the bits of belt i thought i had an oil leak Im trying to say dont break a belt in the fast lane with original tires on

It was a post IN "thrill of the freeway" saying something along the lines of I didn't know what I thought was worse - being blown down and injured in a crash, or having to tell people I was injured because the wind blew me off my scoot!
