Got the Taida 61mm BBK and 3mm crank all installed, started up fine and went down the road, came back and it cut off in driveway. Been struggling all afternoon trying to get it to start right, IDK...Thinking about pushing it off a mountain, and just driving my car. My brother has adjusted the fuel air, the sparkplug shows that its running rich. The valves are set right, already checked them over twice. Takes about 3-5 times cranking, then it will finally start after you keep twisting on the throttle, just about had enough of this. Could it be the auto choke? My brother says the auto choke enricher is hot, about as hot as the valve cover. This doesn't sound normal to me?

im not a expert but i talk from experience. it seems like it could be the mixture screw, i changed my carb acouple of days ago and it ran great for 2 days then it did not want to stay on while on idle, took it to the mechanic cause i felt like throwing over the mountain just like you and he said it was the mixture and speed screws plus he said it was my fuel that had too much slack but i think the fuel line thing was B.S.

Well probably not much help, but if I had a dollar for every time that I rebuilt/worked on my scoot, only to have something else (problem-wise) happen that was totally UNRELATED to what I was working on---I'd be rich. Ok, it wasn't that many times, but you catch my drift. It always seemed to be spark related.
For example: 1) After rebuilding my engine completely, immediately after the "intitial run" my scoot died out and wouldn't start very well and when it did start, it would not stay running-- even at full throttle. It turned out my stator connecting wires were pretty corroded effecting the spark. Totally unrelated to the rebuild, enough to drive you nuts.
2) After another rebuild, my spark just so happened to "go out" again. This time it was the ignition coil boot. Another thing totally unrelated to the rebuild. Annoying, and makes you question if it was something that you've done.
Yeah both of those happened during the "downtime" of rebuilding-- not a day or week later.
EDIT: The auto enricher shouldn't be hot, if I remember correctly.

What carb size is on there and what PILOT JET size did you put in? Most folks over jet their carbs thinking lots of fuel is going to make it run like a rape aped, but that is not how it works. Alleyoop

Alleyoop Its whatever pilot jet comes in the 26mm carb most of us folks get on ebay, its like a $28-35 cheap carb thats adjustable. last year we put a 112.5 main jet in it.

Recheck your valves , if it was a jeting problem it would never started . John valves have been checked probably 4 times during the whole build, NCY take out, Taida install, last night when troubleshooting.

How often should these carbs on these things be cleaned? A few times I have ridden in the rain, I dont have the stock airbox setup, just wondering if the carb needs blowed out or cleaned?

Could the auto enricher be bad?

Can you take a picture of your plug since you say it is running rich so we can determine where in the throttle range it is running rich, at the low end or top end. That will tell which jet is making it run rich the Pilot Jet or the Main jet.
Also turn the Fuel Ratio Mixture Screw clockwise until it stops and count the number of turns it took to stop and tell us Then you can turn back the same amount of turns. Alleyoop
