I got a 50cc Peace Sport Scooter in the fall in non-running condition. I was told it was probably an easy fix (haha). I recently had the chance to play with it and I can't seem to get it started. Here's what I've done so far:
-new battery -new spark plug -adjusted valves to .005" -new fuel filter -disassembled and cleaned carb
The engine has enough compression to pop my finger off the plug hole, spark seems adequate and it appears to be getting fuel. Even with starter fluid I can't get this thing to fire. What am I missing? I have the scoot on the center stand and the rear brake squeezed although I don't think it has a safety switch.
Thanks!

First on the 50s adjust the valves to .003 inchs .005 inchs is to wide of a gap. If the spark plug is firing then it is not any killswitch. What a killswitch will do is ground the CDI and you would not have SPARK at the spark plug.
Now when you test for spark you must test that holding the plug on the valve cover or motor NOT THE FRAME. The motor has to be grounded to the FRAME otherwise the spark plug may only fire when grounded to the frame. If the motor is not grounded to the frame when you put it in the motor it will not fire. Thanks, I changed the valves to .03mm. I'm getting a spark while grounding the plug against the motor. I'm using starter fluid in the plug hole and airbox, cranking with a fully charged battery and still nothing.
Anything else I should try?? Thanks

Is it a timing issue? Maybe it's getting spark but at the wrong time. Maybe it's something like a missing key on the crankshaft so the magneto isn't firing at the right time???

I hope you adjusted the Valves at .003 inchs or .05-.06 mm and not .03mm that is to tight.
Ok, since you say it is getting spark and it has enough compression then only one thing left FUEL.
Crank it over and take the Spark plug out: a. If it is WET then you do not have spark OTHERWISE it would have at least attempted to fire. b. If it is DRY then no fuel is getting into the intake So get back with what the plug looks like and we can go on from there. Alleyoop

I'll double check what feeler gauge I used and get back to you... Right now I don't have gas in the tank. The petcock must be broken because gas was coming out of both the gas line and vacuum line. I've been using starter fluid in the carb's intake and I've also tried putting it directly in the spark plug hole.
thanks for the help.

Well, stuff coming out of both ends only works on living things but not good on vacuum petcocks/fuel pumps Alleyoop
