Is the belt on this thing good to rely on or because of age it should be replaced? 06 blur 150. Don't want any issues but don't want to spend money needlessly either.........FYI anyone needs a HF197 oil filter you can find them on ebay for $5, under $10 with shipping.

If not dried out it will may have vibration from being in one position for so long. Kind of like a car sitting for eight years the tires will have flat spots. I would just play safe and change it. It's a pretty cheap part and will give you peice of mind.

Buy a new belt and carry it with you. Run the old belt and see what happens. Storage conditions affect how fast the belts deteriorate in storage, if at all.

And that is exactly why you want to change it.

You really need to go through the bike if you intend to keep it. Grease that has been used and then allowed to sit for 8 years tends to separate leaving behind the dried up gritty remains of the pressure additives that can really destroy movings parts. If the wheel bearings are weeping they will need to be replaced. You will need to open up the CVT and ispect the condition of the variator and clutch paying attention to the condition of the oilite bearing that the variator center bushing slides in to see if it has dries out and the rollers to ensure they have not started to delaminate while the clutch will need to be checked for operation and to at least clean out the roller bearings that it idles upon the clutch shaft with. While your in there the belt can be inspected but probably should just be replaced. Foam air filters will be a gamble and should be replaced too. Tires can be a real big risk especially if you live in the South so without question should go as even if they are not rotted they will have hardened and more prone to sliding out on smooth or wet roads than when new 8/9 years ago when they were stockpiles at the factory for production.
Potentially a good find that with proper care can last you for many years with some preventative maintenance to take it out of long term storage or a few months if you just gas it up and try to ride it. You may want to add a little oil to the gas untill you can verify that the oil injector is not clogged up. The Blur was a 2 stroke if memory serves me and the automatic systems can get plugged up from sitting unused for as long as this one has.

Because of a glitch in my DL I won't be able to legally drive this thing till sept, anyways it seems a new belt is needed and I will change it. Any advice where to buy one where it isn't a cheap knockoff? Seems from some posts I've read it needs to be a gates or a bando right?

Is a buddy 150 belt the same as a blur 150? Looked one up on scooterworks site and they only list a buddy 150 belt.

you should be able to read what size belt you have by pulling the CVT cover off and that is how you find the replacement belt

Went with the scooterdynasty belt, thanks. OK now the million $ ?. Is this belt easy to change, what parts need to come off, any advice? I've worked on a lot of stuff but never a scooter variator/belt before.
