? help. ive been running the same airfilter setup on my same setup bbk. but i been tweaking with the cvt rollers and stuff. well. ive never seen temps before reach over 373 or something ever, on this setup. now i have had lighter roller weights, before, and also a biggggg downhill. real steep. but, never seen over 373 temps on my CHT gauge. well, to finally get it running good, i started tuning up the trans, and changin gmy rollers. whats got me confused,is this sudden increase in temps. everytime i rode before, ive never seen, anywhere, over 373 temps.
here's my different cvt setups, i was running 5.5 gram pulleys, then i switched to 7 gram pulleys as i was tuning better. the lighters, give you less top speed, higher acceleratin. and the heavier's give you, more top speed, less acceleration. well with none of this have i been seeing my temps reach over 373 on my CHT ever before. with this setup. now i went with 7 grams and 5 grams mixed, rollers and sliders. and i been tuning better. so. my temps werent, really, over 373. .. it was like, i was fine, just crusing along, not flooring it, or down some hill, i dont go far, live next to a fast road, and only am just trying to tune. not much space. you know. and one direction is flat out down hill. other is flat, but slight incline near the end.
so i went out, and well, ok. i had trouble getting my bike going. seemed to be? flooding, i thohgt, at full htrottle. so i downjetted. this might be backwards waht i was thinking. anyway. i had been trying to rejet, tune better for a while. i went down down down on my taper, 3/4 throttle jetting. wayy down. from my leanest needle, to now the richest taper needle i got. the whole while, pilot jets stayed around this same number, and the main jet, has always ran at the same number. .. so i thoght, i was running rich. couldnt really get my bike going. after tuning up the cvt, as i was tuning the carburetor, and my bike. so i lowered my main jet, one size.
seemed to get me up to speed better. .. as i was saying .. maybe i got this backwards, but anyway. just trying ot talk here. well, so i was crusing along, flat long straightaway. with the one smaller main jet, i had dropped to. 373 i seen on the temp gauage. its a big long straight away, maybe a mile or more. didnt reach over it. everywhere else i went too, i didnt try going down that hill, just riding around, no tmeps reached over 373. anywhere. i had my bike warmed up. and i took off down that straight stretch, for sort of kind of like, a plug chop. 373 was good. then the hill, slightly inclined. a little bit more of a strain on my bike, then, boom, temps start to jump up, 380, 385, 390 394, i let off the throttle to cool it down. arg. am i too lean on teh main jet? i then went back, and richened the main jet back to where i was, before, one setep richer. i had ran that for a LONG time. and never got temps really over 373 anywhere, ever.
i went back out. ran a little better, little bit more peppier. warmed up my bike. took off down that straight stretch, for sort of a plug, chop. 373 temps, by the end of the flat section of the straight away. alright, good. then the road sort of inclined a little. 376, 379, 382, 385, i let off the throttle, it hit 389 before it cooled down. arrgggggggg.
??/ ok now so im like, .
alright i did go up one size on my main jet. but now im just blurbling everywhere. sounds alright. runnign a phbg dellorto carb.
any help? thanks.

When you put a load on any motor they will run hotter, especially going up a hill or incline. Don't forget they are air cooled and as your going up a hill or incline your speed is down (less air to cool the motor) and the motor is working harder so it will run hotter. I think your being to picky about the temps. Just do not run it lean because then it will really get RED HOT and seize on you. If you see your pipe turning blue that tells you your running lean if it turns RED HOT then your way over the line. Alleyoop

long story. the story that goes along with this. ... yea, i dont even want to get close to there. so i been going, 1 number at a time. but what i did do, was up that main jet another size. and it sounded, better. .. like get it? sounds more like. a bike it's supposed to sound, like. sounds right.
ok a few things, found out that since i was lean on the main jet. which i was thats why the too hot, but give me some tips to get this running. that main jet, is more like it. still, dont know if going on down the road, that it will over heat maybe, or not. but its 1 size bigger yet again. so maybe this one will do it.
but ok, so i went out today, and done some more tuning. and found, out my needle, i was getting, no throttle response from 1/4 pretty much until it was full throttled. wot. it would just go like, burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooorrrr. another thing, my belts stock and im waiting on a shipment to get to me from china so i can change belts. and i have a little bit of bad running, anyway around 30mph becuase of the belt, and maybe my roller weights. i might have to order a set. but not until i .. switch over my cvt. to use the new belt. waiting on a variator.
so its kind of tricky figuring out. maybe im just now, wrong rollers? but. i been going by, letting it coast down a hill, or start to run good, rollers switch gears, i think a little quicker than sliders, ive got 5gram sliders, 7 gram rollers mixed right now. i had switched from pretty much all the time using 5.5 gram sliders over. since i started jetting better...
maybe a switch but since sliders, take longer to shift. ive got some 5.5grams. reason i started really to switch is i mixed up the 5.5 grams and 5 grams cause my scales where left somewhere else. and i didnt know. and thought wow i need to heavy these things up. thought the 7 gram rollers where doing pretty good too. i liekd the top speed they gave me. and i thoght tune the carb to them. i kept trying. but switching to sliders, might, be 1 step too light. i can try.
so, alright that. and i was messing with the needle settings. ok its a dellorto 21mm carb. and i got a 72cc bbk. pipe for the motor and everything. no airleaks, been leak down tested. so i was running, really rich 1/4 and 3/4. well, when the main jet was finally set in. i had a couple pilot jet problems. like it cant make up its mind. or maybe, its the bbk and the whole deal with that. so, seemed my pilot was finally tuned in. and the main jet was tuned in. but still, wouldnt run.
well, running down the road, i can loOOK and look at the cvt, but thats telling me nothing. much really. ? what temps? am i supposed to see as i first start it and it burrrrrrrrrroohh down th eroad. i reached down and grabbed the manifold, and it was cold, and wet. so, iwwas rich. knew that. but theres 2 parts of the needle, the 1/4 and the 3/4. didnt konw where i was coming from, but now with the PJ and MJ tuned. i just held it at 1/4 and put my hand over the air filter, or would grab and pull up on the choke as i was going down the road. or touch the manifold. you gotta hold that posiition like 10 seconds or more at least, its like tuning the PJ and mixture screw. turn the mixture screwk then you gotta let it settle for 10 seconds to get a right reading. so it was wet. tried going both ways, see where i was at. went extreme one way. pretty sure it was wet at that point. i tried a couple clicks the other way. still, same acting, just a borrrrrrrrrroh gonig down the road. so, i was like, main jet was chnaged. maybe im on the wrong taper of needles.
see the dellorto needle jetting chart, and youll see 1/4 throttle L_angles, change on the tapers, the 1.0mm tapers and .6mm tapers have the same types of L_angle needles. then your 1.4mm and 1.8mm have the same types of L_angles too. maybe some oddball in there, but i can't remember.
so, everyone i hear, goes, use the w7. tried it. not the best at taking off. i played with my pilot jet mixture screw setting. made, i think the jump, a little better. and the cvt isnt trying to switch gears, anyway at least, until aro9und 30-35 depends on how them heavy rollers want to act. belts also at service limit. soo. well, i guess tomorrow, when i can, maybe ill just drop the needle once more. no weird stuff is happenning. i went, to the w7 needle. i think the 3rd click down. i just thought sometimes stuff was cutting out as i ripped it back. maybe it was just, boom too much gas. but i dont know. guess so. guess ill find out. like as i ripped it back, all of a sudden, it would, boom just die the engine would have no more sputtering, but then itd kick back on.
weird stuff. if i knew like any of the stuff, like, rich cuts out just as lean. but i dont know. and temps or .. um how much the needle should be close to the extremes of tuning with the jettings the way it was.. whatever. but since i have been tuning right now, its not been long so, these problems are just poppoing up. way over rich on my needle, but it was going better the more and more i set the taper more. never had much response from my bike before. and then my main jets off. just 1 step and this.
maybe i need to tune the atomizers. ehhh

What sparkplug are you using ? My dealer told me about a scoot than ran fine but would soft seize in no time . The owner had too hot of plug . Replaced with a NGKBR8 and it was good . I use the 7 when its cold and 8 most of the time but the iridium version which has hix on the end on the model . I run 8g sliders . I have a 19mm TK carb that I was running a 120 MJ but I put the stock pipe back on since the other was so darn loud and went down a 105 MJ and it runs like a beast . Unsure of engine temp but it does not seem to run hot . Too lean will make it run hot and oddly so will too much oil which seems backwards to me

8 ngk. still havent retuned the carb or done another long speed run. got dark befoer i finally got it running about half alright.
take off sucks for me. but if i dont go over 1/4 throtle right now, i have power. and it goes. and i can, get to where im going.
its best to go rich and tune from there. get yoru main jet, i guess plug chopped. also got to have a tuned cvt. heavier weights dont screw nothing over. lighter ones will make it not run right. i know that. heavier, youll just have a hard time getting to where your going. and a cht gauge probably saved my bike, from me blowing it up, 30 or 40 times.

Oil injector or premix ? What oil do you use ? Are you using an in-farad thermometer like some use on nitro R/C cars ?

its running better. the 110 main jet, i was just wondering, i guess its cause i went so long without tuning it rihgt. and now im actually tuning it right. the thing that helped me fixed it, is running the cvt setup right.

Mine is geared so that I can go faster uphill than downhill . As I go so fast it is like " under drive " . Even bone stock other than from a 68MJ to a 75 MJ it would zoom uphill with 6g rollers . I now have Hoca 1.5k clutch springs which pepped up take off , 8g Dr Pulley sliders and a Hoca BB torque spring base which really improves " shifts " . When it was a 50 I had a small Uni vent cover for an airfilter with a MJ and it ran great . I bought the proper Uni but nobody in town had my type of MJ larger than a . Stupid me I put it on anyways . It only had a slight bog and I thought I would only go around the block . Darned if it did not seize , fried the rings , scorched the cylinder and melted off the tip on my NGK in less than a 1/4 of a mile on a hot day . Jetting and exhaust are far more vital on a 2T . I tried a 140 and 130 but it sputtered with a BBK . The 120 it was great as I prefer to run rich rather than be dead on it to be safe . Mine has a handsome boy body like the Peace VIPs and others also have which has an access panel at the bottom of the seat and above the floorboard . I can access the plug with ease through it . In the summer I leave the lid off so it gets more air to cool the engine bay . I will put some mesh screen in the hole so it does not look junky . I also replaced the 40 idle jet with a 45 and wow a huge improvement . With the 40 and a BBK I had to give it a sip of throttle to start and it would sometimes stall at idle during the warm up when it was cold outside . With the 45 IJ no throttle , instant starts again like when it was a 50 and it will idle like a cat purring with no stalls at all .
