I'm working on a nearly new Taotao T3 with a QMB that keeps blowing headlights. I have replaced both the Stator and several regulators - Including one I took off another new unit and I'm still pushing 29V to the headlight. Any thoughts?

29 VOLTS!! Are the headlights fed from the battery or the stator? If the stator then you may be missing a RELAY(DIODE) or those R/R are bad you have been getting. Have you checked what the R/R is putting out at the battery side? Alleyoop

Update: I found a bent prong in one of the connectors for the controls. It shorted out the whole system. Fixed prong. Voltage now down to 19. Replaced regulator and stator again. Still blowing bulbs. This is on the AC side

Yep, if it is putting out more than 15 volts it will blow and burn things. Have to ask where are you getting the parts. Alleyoop

Most of my parts come from partsforscooters.com. Some from other suppliers.

Any thoughts anyone? I even took the regulator off a new unit in case it was different from standard one. Same result.

Short term fix: wire in a diode.Or if your scooter already has one, its probably bad.

Well since you found a bad connection I would check all the connectors something is shorting. I can't believe all those stators and r/r would be bad and putting out the same bad voltage. So it has to be a bad wire someplace or bad ground. Alleyoop

Bad ground on the reg maybe? If so, I would think it wouldn't be able to shunt the extra voltage back to ground... thoughts? Alley, whatcha think?
