goes pretty good now, up to 55 or so, but would like to go up a mountain road at more than the current 30mph... any ideas on good kits and price? (also, how to install, fairly mechanical) THX!

I'd go with a ncy or taida big bore kit, but if its a 125cc i think 58.5 is as big as you can go and you won't see much gains, if its a 150cc you can go up to 61mm taida or ncy kit without boring the case.

Muffler will just be louder making you think your doing 90mph If it will take a 58.5 that will bring it up equvilant to a 150cc 149.?ccs so a gain of over 20ccs is quite a difference and you should notice some real low end torque. Alleyoop

Even 61mm needs case boring, that is a 63mm so it will need boring out. Don't believe everything the sellers say, they just want your money. Alleyoop

The claims they make are not much, First Your current CDI is not rev limited, Second the gains are not as much as you would think. Also since it is a FIXED AT A ADVANCED point it will start at that setting which can cause kickbacks if your compression is high and ruin your starter clutch, not a pretty metal to metal sound. It will give you a TAD little more starting off but not what I think you expect.
To get a motor to pull a load up a mountain road you need some low end torque to keep the rpms up. You could probably get that with lighter rollers but you will then loose some top end. So to get both you need more displacement more ponies. Alleyoop

Great points, because that's mainly what the OP is trying to accomplish. He just wants more hill-climbing power, which a BBK easily addresses.
However, the stock CDI's on a Kymco are rev-limited. It automatically limits the revs when the speedometer touches 60mph. A little leeway is allowed up to (indicated) 65mph, but the revs don't go much higher. You won't get more than 9-10k RPM even on steep downgrades, while a "standard" GY6 is usually getting up to 12-13k RPMs.

My ncy 61mm big bore kit went on without boring and works great.

If your running that motor at 9K-10K it definitly does NOT HAVE A REV LIMITED CDI and it will not last long. Also to get to 65mph you need 9k-10K you have the CVT and Tranny setup wrong. For a real live example my trike which is 353lbs and my 180lbs will do 50mph at 5100-5200 rpms at 60mph it is 6100-6200 rpms. Alleyoop

With my ncy big bore kit and a14 cam I don't lose much speed on fairly steep hills mines set up for torque and hill climbing. Mine does 67 GPS on flat at around 7500 rpm my revs don't go higher than that and its fine by me.
