hello all, new member here. so i have had this scooter(gy6 150 2008 rhon) since new it has 3k miles on it. the other day it suddenly wouldnt start and stranded me. it would crank but not start. i got it home and started to tinker, i checked for spark and seemed to be getting one. however it still would not start there is fuel in the carb and im getting good compression but it wouldnt start. the next day i noticed i was no longer getting a spark, so i replaced the ignition coil, trigger pickup, spark plug and cdi with no results. my stator seems to be charging the battery and it tries to power up my lights when i crank it. ive used a good quality voltmeter to test the red/black wire from the stator and it reads about 50 volts ac while cranking, the blue/white wire from the pickup coil reads anywhere from .1 to .2 volts ac. i get the same reading with the old pickup coil. ive tested the wire from the cdi to the ignition coil and it reads zero while cranking both on the old and the new cdi... sometimes when i try to crank it it will send out one spark but thats it. im now at a loss. if anyone has any ideas i would be very greatful.

Check the ground wire from the motor to the frame, if it isn't grounding good the results is no spark. Usually the ground wire is attached to one of the bolts on the valve cover. Also where it is attached to the frame make sure it is nice and bare metal. Alleyoop

okie dokie just a suggestion since you checked and added all the other things. Another one would be the killswitch, to eliminate the CDI being grounded pull the Killwire off the CDI(that would be the black and white wire on the top of the two plug on the cdi. Alleyoop

thanks again for your attention, i will check the grounds again, i cut that wire right before it goes into the cdi and my scooter wouldnt even try to turn over unless its connected, am i following the bypass procedure correctly?

Well I would not have cut it, but for it to be DEAD know maybe you cut the POWER wire? Here is the CDI with a Killwire. Now does yours have TWO WIRES on the TWO PLUG SIDE or just one wire on the bottom? Alleyoop

If you cut the POWER wire the motor will turn over but NO SPARK . If you cut the KILLWIRE you no longer will be able to shut the motor off by using the killswitch on your handlebar, you will always have to turn the KEY to the off position. My thoughts is you have a loose connection by the killswitch and or the Key Switch or one of the parts you put in is bad.
The way it works is the Stator feeds the CDI through the power wire, the CDI stores the voltage it got and builds it up to about 400v then it waits to get the signal from the PICK up COil to release the voltage to the COIL, the Coil in turn turns those volts to anywhere from 20000-40000 and sends it down the coil wire to the Spark Plug Boot which is connected to your plug and WHALA it ignites the fuel in the combustion chamber. LOL... also get the terminology right, like the motor will turn over but will not start. It will not crank to many of us means the motor is not turning over which would mean the motor is seized or the starter is dead or the battery is dead or solenoid is bad etc.. Big difference on what the problem could be. Alleyoop

Yes they all sound good, that is why I suggestion a bad ground or the killwire. Now let me ask this also when your checking for spark are you holding the Spark plug on the MOTOR or FRAME? Alleyoop
