Ok I have a stock gy6B with 16" wheels. I put a pod filter on it and a performance free flow exhaust. I pushed the pilot jet to 40 and main to 115 . I ride hard. I did checked my mileage I'm getting 40 miles per gallon. I know it too rich when the temp is over 50 degrees I can get some piping from the muffler. In 30 or 40 degrees it runs great.
Will down jetting bring my fuel mileage up to say 60+ miles per gallon?

WOW a 40 pilot jet!! I would go down to a #35 or at least a #38. My motor is built to 182ccs free flow SuperTrap Muffler and a K&N Filter and all it needs is a #38 and only needs a tweak 1/4 or so turn Richer when Cold temps arrive and 1/4 or so turn Leaner when Hot temps arrive. Alleyoop

So Alleyoop, you say the # 40 pj is too big and a# 35 to #38 would be better. I agree, but is'nt the pj for idle to say half throttle. How would it improve the gas mileage if the motor is been driven hard? I am very interested because tuning and jetting is a mind bender for this noob! Me.

Me. Got to remember he lives in NYC, and I would bet a lot of it is Stop Light to Stop Light and or Stop Sign to Stop Sign. But even still the Pilot jet feeds fuel ALL THROUGH the throttle range not just for idle and mid-range. Contrary to what others may believe Fuel is always being sucked out of the Pilot Jet Passage all through the throttle range. There are tiny holes by the Butterfly usually 4 of them that are the fuel outlet for the PILOT JET, there is NO CUTOFF of fuel for that passage. So when air pressure is pumped into the carb fuel comes out of those outlets as well as from the Main Pilot Jet passage in the Venturi. Now I do have to tell you that less fuel gets sucked out of the Pilot Jet Passage but never the less fuel always is being sucked out of there. So right now he is actually wasting gas from start to about 3/4 of the throttle range with such a big Pilot Jet. Alleyoop

ok seems like I need to go smaller on the pilot jet and the main jet . I wonder how it will effect my mileage .
