Hi Everyone. I have a 2003 Stella 150 cc scooter that when you hold the rear brake, the rear brake handle will not depress when held. Its stiff and wont move. It has been sitting for a year but it runs and starts great. Is this an issue with the hydraulic brake fluid or cable? Does anyone know how to get the rear brake to work? What should I do? Thanks

Disconnect the brake cable at the arm and see if then when you squeeze the cable moves if it does then its the brake itself that is stuck. See if you can push it forward with your hand maybe it is rusted on there maybe a little WD40 will loosing it up. If not then you will have to take it apart and lube the shoes where they rotate on the studs. Alleyoop

On a Stella the rear brake is activated by a pedal on the right floorboard, the front brake is the lever on the right handlebar. The lever on the left handlebar is the clutch, and the left bar end rotates to shift gear. It is squeeze and twist to shift on the left side. Any problem you would have with the left lever would be a clutch problem. I do not know what the solution is, just the problem.
Cheers

You have to determine if the clutch cable is stuck or the clutch itself is jambed up. Sometimes folks replace the brass throwout pin with a throwout bearing and those being more complex can be prone to failure too. Hopefully it was not without a proper fill of lube as you then may need to rebuild the clutch pack and flush things out.
Is this someone elses bike you are working on or something you aquired and have not ridden yet? Do you know how well the shift and clutch worked the last time it was ridden?

It's a bike that I'm working to fix. I've never fixed this before. Could I simply disconnect the brake arm and spray WD40 into it and solve the problem?
Or is there more that I need to do? Like changing brake fluid?
A step by step guide with pictures or video to fixing this stiff brake handle would be HUGELY appreciated.
