12V outlet

I got a outlet installed in the glovebox - and have it wired to the horn wire, as I did not want it on all the time. I also installed a switch in the glovebox so I can turn it on and off when I please - the question I have is how do I install a inline fuse, as it keeps interferring with the electrical system and causing the speedo/rpm/fuel gauges to stop working intermittently and brake/turn signals fail to work as well.

Maybe you should wire it directly to the battery put a 10amp fuse in the line and just get a toggle OFF/ON switch, that way it will not interfere with anything. Alleyoop

I'm also looking at replacing the current fuse by the battery with a inline - and see if that's more reliable.
I disconnected the current setup - however I still have no power to the dash nor does my brake lights function. I am currently trying to figure this mess out.

I would use a marine ( boat not military ) 12 V outlet and most i have seen already had an inline fuse . Should be able to get the fuse holder and some wire from any auto part store . Having a manual off/on switch is a good idea . If you get a Battery Tender you can charge up the battery with the port instead of having to remove the battery cover and hooking up to the battery . Being on the horn circuit you may ruin the horn relay , so connect to the battery . You do know a scooter barely puts out any amps so it would take much longer to charge a phone than it would in a car .

A phone only charges at 0.5amps on a PC USB port, and 1amp on a wall charger. I'm gonna have to find were the kids left my multi-meter and see just what amperage is being generated by my scooter.

I got this issue resolved - this didn't come with a inline fuse (it has the cig lighter along with 2 USB ports), but I went ahead and rewired all the way down to the battery, didn't much time at all - The electrical seems solid - so we'll see how it does on my 120mi run this saturday.
