OK yea so midnight noon morning doesn't matter. My 150 has been burning oil for a while now. It runs fine, it just makes a hella lot of smoke. Turn it on, idles fine then blueish grey smoke and oil smell. While I am on the throttle it doesn't smoke, but stop at a traffic light or something and you engulf whoever is down wind from you. Rev a couple times over the course of 30 secs or so and it just about goes away.... until I stop again. Why does it do this? Just under 800 miles and 6 months old motor. Open intake and exhaust. Did this on conventional and synthetic oil. Why does it do this and how do I fix it. And yes valves are correctly adjusted.
Side question, the c-clip on a Carb needle. Up is lean, down is rich? Vice versa? Low end vs. top end power? I'm lost. Thanks

If the Valve cover Vent Hose is attached to your Air Box or tubing take it off there and put a Fuel FIlter on the end of it and tie it up high on the frame someplace. If it is squirting out that means the crankcase is creating a lot of pressure but I DOUBT that unless you overfilled the crankcase with oil. Usually when that happens at low rpms IDLE your valve stems are leaking. If it where you rings it would happen all the time no matter the rpms. Alleyoop

The smoke signals it's time to rebuild top end. Moving the clip towards the center of the needle will shift the needles transition zone(s) to a higher rpm. Easy way to remember is: Having more of the needle out of the jet will enrichen. Exactly where it gets richer depends on the needle length and profile.
