Hello all,
I dropped a bolt behind the flywheel and couldn't get it out. Is there anything I should be concerned about, like the bolt shorting something out?
I rode the scooter around and everything seemed OK but I was wondering if anything like this has happened to anyone else?
Thanks.

matter of fact the bold is most likely stuck to the magnet that gos around the stator.

I suggest getting the bolt out. It could mess up a lot of stuff if you run the motor with it in there.

If you were in my area, I'd say bring it by.... we'll get it out of there... That being said, it's really easy to take the plastic cooling shroud off the engine. It is like two bolts and one screw... Take a look at it... it's very easy... then see if you can get it out with a magnet or screwdriver. DON'T PRY ON ANYTHING! If that doesn't work, see if someone has a flywheel puller for a gy6 150cc engine... the fly wheel pulls pretty easy if you can keep the motor from turning or have access to an impact wrench... This would be a 20 minute operation from pulling it into my garage to driving it back out.
You do want to get it out of there tho... besides it tearing up the coils in the stator, it could cause some weird ignition problems, or scar up the case.
Are you friendly with a local shop? If you end up taking it in... I would think they would charge you for an hour of shop time which is probably the min they charge.... In my shop, I'd just fix it, and tell ya not to do that again.... and send you on your way, as long as you didn't break anything. But then I'm a big one for wanting good will with my customers too. Scooter people talk to each other, and I get way more back then I give away. About the only thing I don't do is tires.

The flywheel is a big magnet so the bolt may stick at least part of the time. But your charging system and pick up coil are hiding underneath and they won't respond well to twirling metal bits. You need to get it out of there.

Funny the same thing happened to me two days ago.
Take off the fan part, then keep twirling the shaft. I was lucky and saw the bolt through one of the holes on the flywheel. Hit it with another magnet and a small pick.
Definitely get it out of there.

Thanks guys for all the replies and I really appreciate your kind gesture urbanmadness.
I tried the twisting of the flywheel while looking through the hole thing but I couldn't find the bolt.
I do realize I need to get the bolt out of there so I ordered a flywheel puller from ebay. Luckily, I do have an impact wrench so as urbanmadness mentioned, I should be able to do this in about 20 minutes.
Once again, thanks for the help.

If you're in the USA I bet a pulley puller at AutoZone you could loan for free.
