Well, I am trying to decided what my next purchase should be for the scooter. It is running remarkably well, doesn't stall at all anymore and pulls pretty good. It only has about 300 miles on it. Top speed is satisfactory to me but I still want it to take off much quicker. So, I have a question, what should my next purchase be? I have the coil and CDI, the NGK, the Keihin, the racing variator, the clutch springs so I will list a few things I have in mind and hopefully someone will chime in as to what would be the best idea on my next, single purchase... NCY Exhaust - $149 Performance transmission kit (NCY, Clutch, springs, Bell, Variator, rollers, Drive faces [clutch and variator]) - $149 Kevlar Belt - $12 Final drive gears - $? 50mm BBK (w/# jet, 23mm valves and A9 cam) - $99 Intake from carb to head - $20 Air filter - $?

Always start with the BBK. Then the gears, though you'll just have more top end; and it's a lot of wasted money, but if you're doing it for the fun of it, the gears will be number 2. Then change the rollers to lighter sliders, for faster take off. Performance variator is not necessary when you do gear change. But if you're just playing around skip the gear change and do the performance variator. I think the TaoTao's pretty much use freeflow air intake. A freeflow exhaust does very little on a 50cc. I doubt it'll account for more than 0.2HP, you'll have more success inflating the tires to 38PSI.

Like I said... I have a performance variator already... was just looking at the trans kit which has one also. So bang for the buck just spend the $99 on the BBK huh? Sounds like fun. Now will this help it take off faster?

Ha! Your speedo still has color! Mine is all yellowed out, from being in the sun. Believe it or not, but soon, the black will become brown, and the red will disappear (yellowed white). Heck even the white will yellow. The fuel gauge will bend down of the heat (I live in HOT S-Florida, and think the fuel gauge may actually have partially melted, being trapped behind a plastic window, the heat must have exceeded 200F in there with the sun shining on it)! If you care, it's better to treat the transparent plastic with a UV protective coating. I have a spray for leather, but never tried one for plastic. A BBK will help take off a LOT faster! You probably have a 63cc BBK installed already. I was thinking of putting a 72-75cc BBK in mine some day. But if performance matters, they sell 80-100cc BBK kits. All you need to do when buying the BBK, is rejet the carburetor ( for like $10 you got the right jets, or buy another carburetor that is jetted correctly, they cost like $20, or buy one with an airfilter, like this one: www.ebay.com/itm/Carburetor-with-Air-Filter-50CC-90CC-110CC-ATV-Go-Kart-Carb-Roketa-SUNL-Chinese-/281143973012?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41757c9494No guarantee it'll work on the ATM50 though, but something similar).

I try to keep the scooter covered when I can... like now, it's raining so she is loosely wrapped in plastic to keep her dry. I tried to look for the marking to see if it was a secret 60 or whatever it is but could not find it to save my life. The sales person at the place I bought it from said they stopped doing the secret 60's a few years back... Idk, maybe, but I know it has a lot of thump and pressure coming out of the exhaust and it is way faster than my 2010 TaoTao I had.
I will most likely do the 50mm BBK AND the NCY exhaust at the same time... the exhaust so it will sound less uncool and improve the looks. Looking at $250 or so. I am ok with that if it will move off the line much quicker. I know already I can hold the front brake and open the throttle wide and spin the back tire with ease on a dusty driveway. Well, we will see what happens.

Hey Thxone, You might want to look at this thread from a few back. Greg (mainepeace) is a owner of a restaurant/scooter rental sales and parts in Main U.S.A. This is his out look on how he has found most of his scooters to be a 63cc. scootdawg.proboards.com/thread/42388His website and Phone: mainelyscooters.com/

Mine was a 63cc, you can know if you're going faster than 45MPH on a long stretch with engine warmed up, and tires pumped up. Most if the 50cc's don't surpass 40MPH, perhaps do 42 tops.

38PSI is not overinflating it. My Tao came with stock tires that handle upto 40PSI, even if the manual says 35PSI max.. 38PSI has been working well for me, since they deflate very slowly (in about 2-4 weeks to 29PSI). Unfortunately, or lucky, however you may look at it, I don't use no rubber at all

That is a SWEET little 50!
You've done a LOT already. Doggone, I love the look of 50's! Increasing the displacement may be a good thing, but I think you already are getting about all you could ask from 50cc. Experimenting with roller/slider weights DID provide THE most noticeable differences in performance on my 150. I had similar engine upgrades to your 50, and once the engine was running its best, the rollers made a LOT of difference.
While 50's use much different weights, the theory should be the same. For example, I tried 13-gram rollers and got a much better top speed (about 62 mph). BUT... the acceleration went away, along with hill-climbing. I then installed 12-gram rollers, and acceleration was fantastic! BUT... top speed dropped to a miserable 45 mph. I then mixed 3 12-gram and 3-13-gram rollers alternately, making the equivalent of 12.5 grams... THAT gave me GOOD acceleration, and "DECENT" top-speed of 58 mph. (I weigh 235 and the 150 had a Prodigy variator with stock clutch).
Only 1-gram difference made TOO much difference, so a mix worked best.
I'm thinking that a 50cc might be even MORE sensitive to roller-weight differences. I never got to try sliders, but from Dr. Pulley videos showing their ability to go ALL the way down, and ALL the way up in the variator, I'm convinced they would provide MORE ACCELERATION, and MORE TOP-SPEED than equivalent rollers. I would definitely give them a try!
Recent changes in local streets raised the speed needed to safely compete with traffic, and I traded my Xingyue 150 on a used Kymco 250 for the needed speed increase. So far this has been very good for me, but if your 50 will run safely with the traffic you must contend with, I'd enjoy it as much as possible. It looks great, and is giving you decent performance. From where it is now, I'd definitely experiment with rollers or sliders of different weights though. They can make MONUMENTAL differences, ESPECIALLY in acceleration.
Just keep in mind that great acceleration may mean a major decrease in top-speed...
Hope my 150 experiences may help...
Ride safe!

The rollers on a 50cc vs a 50+cc BBK should be the same, because the variator is mainly RPM based on these scoots. The more power of the larger BBKs will allow you to accelerate faster, and reach top speed much faster, but at the cost of lower MPG. Top speed should not be significantly faster with the BBK; unless you change gears.

Well my headlight bulbs came in... wrong bulbs so I ordered what I hope will be the correct bulb and it should be here soon. I took the scooter down a pretty good down hill road the other day, first time since putting the CDI and coil on and lets just say I wish I had the gps going, the speedometer needle was well past where it should ever go. It was actually well past my turn signal indicators. I have to say I was easily at 60+mph and revving really high so I let off. I was in a tuck and the air was cool so I am sure that helped. Next time I will GPS it.

I can do 45 on the flats and as far as i know BMS dont have 63s on the 50 line. Maybe its that Znen made motor. I think theres more too but im not about to try 9000 rpms on a motor with 800 miles on the ODO
