I recently made a pretty crappy purchase. I went by looks and not by how reliable i *should* have wanted this scooter to be.
I'm having trouble finding much info on it so i can buy parts. The only info i really have is from the title and the couple of manuals that i have with it... but it doesnt make much sense when i try to google any of it.
make: bashan model: BS49Q-2 manuf.: peace industry group year: 2012
It is a 4 stroke electric/kick start (no pedals) with a whole MESS of issues.
When i bought it the guy said its a "dog bike" ...but that led me to no info either. Anyone have one of these? Or know much about them?
Thanks in advance!

It's garbage, enough said. The OP could probably get his money back or even make a profit if he parted it out.

I've noticed that the lazer 5 has pedals, mine doesnt. I also noticed that eeeeeveryone wants to buy this silly thing from me when they see it... but I'm fairly deep into my pocket with it by now, so I dont think I'll part with it.
It indeed is a garbage heap at the moment... somehow I've got to see the beauty in this clunker and get it back to great running shape.
The biggest issue with it is not being able to get the electric start to work all the time. I'm a pretty small lady, its hard to kick start :/

That really a cool looking bike... it's a shame it's giving you grief.... I bet it has a bad starter solenoid...

So far its gotten a carb clean, other general maint., voltage regulator (it ate 1...almost 2 brand new batteries) a stator, and i have a spedo cluster and a brake assembly with wiring on the way. This bike would have been great new out of the box... but I found this one on craigslist and kinda impulse bought it....must have shiny! The guy was really rough on it, and hid a lot of the things wrong with it by saying "the battery is dead so it wont electric start..replace the battery and you're good to go" ...but it kick started just fine, it must have been warm started right before I got there. It's my fault for not diving a little deeper for an investigation of sorts. But, in my defense, he didn't tell me the problems when i asked the first time. He later claimed after I drove all that way, that it had just been sitting there and didn't know that the battery was dead, or I would have brought a battery. It's my first crappy CL experience but its probably entirely my fault for being blinded by shiny loot. I drove 3 hours down there, 3 hours back home, paid 400 for it, but now I'm at about 700 total. I had decided a few days ago to let it go and just drink my milk, eat my wheaties, and kick start the all the time... but we'll see. I'll get parts as I can afford em. I still think its such a nice lookin bike... I'm just a little peeved at it. I'm sure when it runs the way I want it to... my helmet hair will be blowin in the breeze, and I'll have a big goofy grin on my face scootin' down the street. haha! Thanks for all the replies everyone, even the rude ones.

Keep after it. Maybe it wasn't the bargain you were hoping for, but you're not too far underwater yet.

You can test the solenoid. Jump the 2 terminals where the large wires connect with a jumper wire. If the starter turns solenoid is likely bad. Also apply power to the trigger wire too make sure it's not the switch...

I own the same bike, an 2011. The only problem i have had with it is a couple lights don't work, the front left turn signal, and the running rear tail light, which i just stuck an led on the back that i run at night. Other then that the thing has ran like a dream since i bought it a year ago. Just remember frequent oil changes, FULLY SYNTHETIC is a must!!! And a preventive maintenance job on it once every 1000 miles or so by a dealer and you should be good. Try taking it to a shop and have them look at it instead of trying to figure it out yourself

I'm not familiar with that type of bike, but it IS possible that the electric-start issue is caused by a safety interlock. On most scooters, you must have any side-stand retracted AND apply one, or both brakes. Yours appears to have the rear brake on a foot-pedal, motorcycle-style.
First thing I'd do is try starting it while sitting on it with kick and center-stands retracted and both brakes applied. Also, do check to see if the bike has a "kill-switch". Usually near the throttle-grip. Sometimes these can accidentally get engaged and disengaged.
You probably do have an issue with the solenoid, or maybe internally in the starter, but more than once I've had starting issues because I accidentally engaged the kill-switch, left the side-stand down, or forgot to hold a brake on while starting.
You'll get it right with patience, and have a nice ride!
Sincerely,
Leo in Texas
