I have 2007 150cc Chinese scooter, and I recently cleaned the carbs, and adjusted my valves. As for the carbs I did not mess with the mixture screw. and as for the valves I adjusted them cause my scooter would crank crank crank and crank then finally start. As for the valves at top dead center I can not even get the gauge .001 in between the spring and valves on both. I set the valves to about a .004 to a very tight .005. now the scooter starts fine no problems and I have more power until it gets warmed up and the it bogs out at take off. once I get going its fine. its just taking off after the scooter warms up it bogs out. can someone please help me.

The air screw you can run it all the way in then out 2.5 turns and adjust as needed once the engine is warm . Any small engine should run better once warm compared to cold more so in the winter . When you cleaned the carb did you remove the jets or just use spray cleaner ? Has it bogged before ? Any mods like exhaust or air filter ? Check for leaks in the intake and tubing from the airbox as well as the vacuum hoses . When you adjusted the valves was the engine cold ?

[replyingto=skuttadawg]skuttadawg[/replyingto]Okay, I did not remove the mixture / air screw I left it set to what someone had adjusted it to couple of months ago. when I did clean the carbs I did remove the two jets and they were dirty. what is the mods. I replaced the air tubing and vacuum hoses. when I did the valves it was cold. I set the valves to a little loose .004 to a tight .005.

Did you make sure your needle was seating correctly? Is the diaphragm properly installed? Is the needle adjustable?

Sounds like the pilot jet is either still dirty, or too small. The pilot jet provides fuel until you open the throttle up enough to create enough vaccum to raise the needle out of the main jet. If the pilot jet is too small or blocked at all, then it will bog until the needle is raised by vaccum in the carb, allowing more fuel in.
Before it's warmed up, then enricher allows extra fuel in, once warm the enricher closes it's port off, leaving low idle fuel to be supplied only by the pilot jet.

All you need to do is FINE TUNE the FUEL RATIO MIXTURE.
Put it on the Center stand and let it warm up at least FIVE minutes so the ENRICHER cuts off the extra fuel.
Then From the current setting First Try richen the mixture up a little:
Turn it 1/4 turn COUNTER CLOCKWISE and wait a few seconds so the motor catchs up with the new setting and NOTICE if the idle goes up: If the Idle goes up REPEAT until it does nothing or IDLE GOES DOWN THEN turn it CLOCKWISE 1/8 of a turn.
*** If on the FIRST Counter Clockwise turn it does nothing or IDLE GOES DOWN THEN DO the SAME PROCEDURE BUT CLOCKWISE..LEAN IT OUT ***
What you want is the HIGHEST IDLE FROM THE ADJUSTMENT: Now try it give the Throttle a QUICK TWIST and let go it should rev up with no hesitation or stumbling and come down pretty quick to where you set your idle(with the IDLE SPEED SCREW) also your rear wheel should NOT BE SPINNING at IDLE if it is USE THE IDLE SPEED SCREW to lower the IDLE so that the REAR WHEEL just wants to turn.
