Quality and attention to detail- Thats the next innovation we need from the chinese That would be more of an evolution. But yeah, they can start with better welding and bearings. (The two top areas for improvement that I can see)

I would like to see better bearings, better hardware and better body panels. Real metal instead of chrome plated plastic.

I wouldn't mind seeing self cancelling turn indicators becoming standard. I admit that sometimes I'm the idjit riding down the road with my blinker on. BUT i'm not the Lone Ranger....

Just out of curiosity, how does that work on a 2 wheeler? I'd imagine it wouldn't work all the time and would still require you to check after every turn.

Honda used/uses a bank angle sensor that registers the bike leaning over works 99.99% of the time. I'm ok with the giant flashing light though to remind me... Self canceling turn signals, btw, are not innovative really since they have been around for nearly 30 years...

You do realize that "real metal" would significantly add to the weight, and significantly rob from performance.this is counterproductive to all engineering of fuel efficient machines.

IMHO 100+MPG scooters aren't that far off. It's pretty easy to get 100+MPG on a 50-250cc scooter, 120MPG even, at the cost of torque. I think pretty soon, regulations will determine how fast a scooter can accelerate, and if it does it too fast, it will need an upgear, for the sake of MPG.
I think pretty soon, manufacturers will start complaining cause of EPA ratings. It makes no sense that a 5,6 liter truck with 15MPG is allowed to pass, but a 100+ MPG scooter is not, because it's using a carburetor?
I think in the future of the scooter, there will be a place in the dashboard to install a cellphone, or GPS; or perhaps have an on-board touchscreen for GPS, Radio, and other funcions (like perhaps electronic fault sensors, probably for the bigger bikes like the Burgmans).
I think the future of the scooter is digital, nice looking Tachs and Speedo's, all LED background, perhaps even programmable, so you can choose which backlight color you prefer (like 256 intensities of Red, Green, or Blue, making out almost 16M colorvariations, matching your speedo backlight to your scoot's paint color, or choose your own custom color, etc...)
I think the future of scooters will be softer suspension, larger storage space, and hybrid scooters. Instead of an electric starter, there will be an alternator, which uses regenerative braking in a small secondary 12V battery, or large size capacitor. The alternator/generator/dynamo will work as a helper engine to the main engine, to start it, and to help accelerate. The engine will cut off when standing still. Using this method, it might be possible to top 125MPG without having a snail on the road. Thus making it possible, to make good and useable 50cc scooters, with plenty of acceleration; while top speed might still be ~40-45MPH-ish, even uphill.
The future of chinese scooters, will be comfort. Better leg and body protection against wind or rain, better shocks, better windshields, and perhaps handwarmers, seatwarmers, and perhaps built in LED lights for under the scooter. (or at least more kits or mounting options).
Perhaps some chinese company finally decides to make a V-twin or parallel twin 50cc 4 stroke engine (twin 25cc), the optimal engine for <50cc scooters, and people with a scooter license, but not a motorcycle endorsement; or people without a DL. Knowing the Chinese, they probably start with a parallel twin 50cc engine, rather than a V-twin, as a V-Twin costs too much.
Or perhaps they decide to pair a 50cc with a turbo. Both options give more power in the engine, while still being able to register the scooter as a 49cc.

My gomoto has alot of the new feature its digital and has mx bars so i can put in holders for cellphone, gps etc, adjustable shocks and the body is built so your legs are shielded from wind

You've been thinking hard about those ideas, Pro. I like them. Unfortunately it is just thought with out research. The screens and all that are a neat idea and all but will significantly increase cost and are not innovative per say as you already see this technology being used. There is a very good reason why small (150 and less) scooters are singles. Using a twin though it might increase horsepower it will lower the available torque and move the peak of the curve higher up the rpm scale. Which means it would have a very hard time starting off and reaching top speed. Most of what you guys are talking about is not innovation. The Chinese in general don't innovate they steal and copy. The "innovations" you are talking about here are just bringing the standards up to where the rest of the world has been for decades. Any way carry on with your guys radical ideas. Innovation in small engines in my opinion will not come out of China. These companies don't even have an R&D department. I would keep a close eye on India though...

Agreed the china scoots are all clones my 150 is an aprilla sr50 clone down to the two stroke type pipe However th SR50 already has direct port fuel injection, lcd dash and a number of the wished upon improvements including superceeding EPA regs.

Which means adding those things now isn't innovation it's just copying... Now using them in new exciting better ways, that's something else...

[replyingto=rockynv]rockynv[/replyingto]I'll stick with my clone i love the digital dash and mx bars plus mine is much faster and much cheaper than the sr50
