My AF has been adjusted to the smoothest and fastest idle. At first startup its rough for a few minutes from standing stops until the choke closes off then runs great. Obviously its a bit rich since it runs great after a mile or so. I cant seem to adjust it leaner because the idle drops so its not optimum. What else can be done?

It could be the choke, i had a few that ran that way and put a different choke on it and it went away.

Put in a manual ENRICHER, then you can control the extra fuel being fed at anytime or take away fuel. If you think your running a little lean on the top end you can Lift the plunger out and allow it to feed some extra fuel or cut all of the fuel from the ENRICHER at anytime with your thumb as your riding. At what temperature range is a choke really needed? Im warming up before the plunger is fully extended. Maybe I could just make a plug with the old brass part and hold it in somehow if its really not needed here in Fla

If you live in a warm climate you could block off the enricher circuit. If you get a relatively cold morning you will still be able to fire it up, it will just take a couple of minutes to hold a good idle and accelerate smoothly.
