Here's the "Golden Rule" when it comes to Chinese scoots. If you're mechanically inclined, have the tools and the patience a China scoot can serve you well. If you have more money than ability, get a name brand scoot with the longest warranty you can find. (you're gonna need it.)

[replyingto=spandi]spandi[/replyingto]I like the look of that Roketa, especially if it is made by ZNEN. Is there any verification that ZNEN factory is making that Roketta 250cc?

I like the look of that Roketa, especially if it is made by ZNEN. Is there any verification that ZNEN factory is making that Roketta 250cc? I suppose you could call (or email) and ask. (mine was rebadged as something else but it clearly was a Znen) If you look at all the photos of the entire bike they all have the Znen logo on the nose, and the design is without a doubt the Roar with integral trunk.

An older version of it. It did take some work to get it where I wanted it. I followed the Big Guys posting on the Redstreak 250 (same make and model just rebadged) I'm in SoCal so the environmental restrictions are pretty heavy, and I therefore chose the best machine I could lay my hands on. Even so it had "issues" that needed to be resolved. On the plus side it now purrs like a kitten, and design-wise it's (thankfully) not a copy of any other machine.

What issues did you have at the start?

I am very happy with my Q-Link Commuter 250, a Honda Helix clone. (IIRC, it was also sold as the CF Moto Fashion 250.) IIRC, they were built until 2011. (Mine is a 2007, a bit over 10,500 miles.)

What issues did you have at the start? The engine is a clone, the rest of the scoot is an original design. (kind of a Majesty-ish front end with an Mp3 back.) The three major things I did right off the bat (after a through pdi) was to swap out the fuel pump for a Mikuni. (the China stuff had a rep for failure at the worst times) Put in stainless exhaust bolts, Pirelli tires with bolt through tire valves, and replaced a rear wheel bearing that had rubbed against a spacer causing the clip holding the bearing in place to cut a rough tin can like edge in it, which in turn creased and popped open the bearing seal leaving bearing grease splattered all over the place. (swapped them out for ceramic bearings, no worries) Good thing I decided to replace the tires!

[replyingto=spandi]spandi[/replyingto]Good thing you caught the bad bearings. Which online vender did you get your bike from?

It was Superior Powersports in City of Industry California. (and unlike some folks here, had a rather pleasant transaction with them.)

The only problem was it took over a month to get it once she ordered it. Do you know if anyone on here has gotten their scooter from www.powerrideoutlet.comCan't find too many negatives about them online.

[replyingto=jimboeau]jimboeau[/replyingto]Just had a chat with Josh over at www.powerrideoutlet.comI asked him about the Pro 2013 Roaring MCR-122 250cc scooter and whether it was Znen made. Below is his response. Josh: We did check that with manufacture. The title of the manufacture is from Johway, somehow we think that they might manufacture this model of bike together which is why they have the Znen logo there. Josh: We have had bad experience with Znen 250cc before. That is why when we do PDI with this model, we had our warehouse double check and pay more attention with this MCR-122. We have to do more work to make sure this MCR-122 is good. So far it is better than the Znen model as we experienced from before with this MCR-122. Josh: Yes, we had found the Jonway is much better quality than Znen before. The MCR-54 old model is Yamaha clone engine, the new model is Honda clones enghine.

Don't know for sure, but how many Josh's (in California) are scooter mechanics?
