Waiting at a light for nothing is annoying. One on ramp here, at about 9PM, light freeway traffic, I'm in a Jeep Cherokee, at least three times I was stuck by a metered light. One time for example: Two lanes, no other traffic on the ramp, I pull up at one and wait. More than a minute goes by, no change, another vehicle pulls up to the adjacent lane and gets an immediate green. ? I wait. I know I am on camera. Another car pulls into the adjacent lane and gets a green. Not me? I back up and move over. Does the light change? nope. Third car comes down the ramp behind me and takes my former lane, and guess what?? Go on, guess! He gets the green. I've been here for over 6 minutes already. I finally flip off the camera and drive on. Never got a ticket or anything, but I'd take it to court.
Another ramp in Milwaukee, in a 2+ ton full sized Dodge van. A little rain, medium 4PM pre-rush hour traffic, I pull onto an entry ramp, metered, two lanes. My light does not change. Traffic stacks up behind me. All vehicles who choose the other lane get instant green. Cars and trucks behind me start moving over to the other lane and also green after green after green. But never my lane. Finally I just go, it has been several minutes already. As I crest the hill, I can see in my mirrors, the next car is still waiting at that light. I am probably already 1/2 a mile away.
I have a copy of the WI statute for motorcycles and bikes someplace, I should have a copy in each vehicle. I have read that supposedly that statute applies to any vehicle if the light is not changing in a reasonable amount of time. Sitting at a red for 2 or three minutes with cross traffic coming at about 40 seconds, you wonder if a cop will screw you or give you the benefit of doubt. When it is 5AM and very little traffic, why aren't more lights treated as stop signs, or yeild signs? I made a right to make a u-turn to get back to my planned direction of travel and there was a cop in a driveway. Would he have nailed me for going? Was he sleeping? He probably could have ticketed me for a u-turn. (Until recently, while many intersections did have NO U-turn signs, the general rule was no u-turns were allowed in WI. A coworker has a ticket to that effect. Now main drags like in Brookfield have more left turn lanes, where you can or have to make make a u-turn in order to get to where you are going. Or when you leave a place, you cannot turn left, you must turn right and make a U-turn in order to get the required direction. Nearly all NO U-turn signs are gone. Just a few left in bad intersections.

I noticed magnets on the bottom of my SYM Fiddle II. My tools keep on sticking to it. I haven't had a situation where I could test to see if it works...then again, maybe there was a situation, but the magnets worked and I didn't notice.

I down' think Ckizer gets it. You can set at that intersection for hours. The light at the intersection where I work won' pick up a scooter at all and the oncoming traffic is running close to 50 mph. I just turn right and then make two lefts to get back to the right direction home. I do not want to try and beat the traffic. Jeff

If there is a light that will not change, I will usually just run it. If I ever got a ticket I would fight it. What am I suppose to do if the light doesn't detect my scooter, sit there all day? Turn the other way, the way I don't want to go? p)

My MSF teachers told us most new/er stoplights can be adjusted. If there's one you regularly sit at, call your DOT and tell them. Best is to offer to meet with them so they can check with your bike if it's been adjusted sufficiently or not.

We have had a lot of repaving in the area, and you can no longer see the loops. And now all of the lines - the stop line, the cross walks, the left and right turn , lane dividers solid or dashed, every one on the pavement is inlaid.
Wouldn't that be helpful if they would mark the sweet spot for bikes and cycles.

I bought a AMANET red light changer about 10 months back from the local scooter shop. they said it was the only one the sell because it only one that "actually works pretty good" the guy told me. I installed it and the next time I went out I noticed it immediately tripped the light outside my appt. complex. its a side road that ends at a main road and the light never changes by timer, only when someone is waiting to turn left. I used to have to run it all the time...
I went on down the road thinking this might have been the greatest $25 I had ever spent. but as time went on I encountered more and more lights that it doesn't work on. Maybe 5% of the lights it does work. at one point I was considering getting one or two more to see if it help, but I don't think its worth it.
They can help a little, but its not something that will make a difference in the way you ride.
My biggest peeve is when I pull up as far as I can at an intersection to make room for a car to come up behind me over the sensor, and they want to stop 25ft back...
