I don't know whats going on with my 54 250b besides being a roketa before I moved to Sc. from PA. my gas gauge worked good. now no mater How much i put in it only goes up to the 3/4 mark that and when it gets down to less than 1/2 tank it quits running like it has sucked up something on the feed tube the filter goes empty but if I rock it back and forth on the stand sometimes you can hear a hissing sound and the fuel filter has gas in it again so my question is how hard is it to remove the gas tank so I can make sure there isn't anything floating around in there like a piece of foam or packing material I am getting tired of taking this thing apart to fix something as I have a bad back and it's a lot of trouble for me to work on it. next time I have to do something like this it will go up for sale!!

The hissing sound is it is releasing the pressure built up in the tank. Your problem appears to be the tank is NOT VENTING properly. Try this crack the gas cap open a little see if that helps. Alleyoop

I agree. Sounds like pressure problems.

A little thin gauge wire through your filler cap vent hole should reveal either some gunk, or a proper blockage.

howdy, it could also be a hole in the pick-up line in the tank if the tank is lower than the carb and requires a fuel pump. i had that with my piaggio till putting new hose from the filter to the pump and getting rid of the leaky hose.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken
