Hello, I recently installed a big bore kit on.net little http. I put the cam intime before taking it apart. However afte Ir reinstall it I noticed that the stair was out of time with the cam so I adjusted the cam to match the stator. Well the stair was the one off time so now I'm not sure how to get the cam in time with no guide marks. Would this b why my motor is binding also because before I messed with the cam it was turning over now the starter can barely move the motor. Thanks

No I understand thank you for the reply. IM sure I am doing this right, lining the T mark up with the, not sure what it called but the small part sticking out there that'scircled,. I did just that, could it b that the stator was removed and the plate was not put on correctly because I know that it can't b in time. Thank you very much for the help

Why are you saying that it is not in time? Does the engine turn over but it will not start? Are you using the electric start or the kick start? Once you install a big bore kit you not only have more engine to turn over but more compression to fight against it. If you're using the electric start then the battery could be too weak to start the motor- it may have started it fine with the smaller cylinder but with the increased compression it might be struggling. Did you remove the stator? You shouldnt have had to remove anything on that side of the engine to install the bbk- if it was good before it should still be good now... If you have the brass wheel with the timing marks lined up so the "T" is lined up with the notch on the case and the cam is lined up so that the 3 holes are at the top- the big one pointing straight up and the two little holes lined up witht the top of your head- then you should be in time. If you install it even one tooth off then the holes will not line up correctly and you would notice that it is wrong.
**Please note** in the picture scoots posted the engine DOES NOT appear to be at TDC- you want the notch on the case that sticks out (the part circled) lined up with the "T" that is printed on that black wheel. I dont know why the arrow is pointing at an "F" but that is not the correct mark for top dead center. Also the flywheel does not APPEAR to be lined up with anything in that picture so reference it only to get an idea of what marks we're talking about. =)

ok so from my understaning
when u have the stator at the T mark is ur piston at the very furthest point out? so make the crank spin till the piston is "Top Dead Center" after that lign up the "T" mark and THEN look at ur camshaft and see if ur teeth are ligned up just right after that charge ur battery the stator should still be pumping charge but id have it on a slow charge when ur not working on it
if you do all that then ur stator is fine
also like they said look for compression
and tell us what it is and is not doing
the more we kno the more we help ;D ;D ;D

The stator was not in time at top dead center I took the valve cover off and found that out so tomorrow I'm going to put it back together and hope it works. Thanks for the help

Does it bind when the spark plug is removed? If so you have more than a valve timing issue to track down.
I am not understanding the benefit of putting the cam in-time before installing the BBK as you have to take the timing chain off the cam in order to install a BBK making that moot.
Usually make up a clamp to hold the engine at TDC before I put the head on because it is easier to visually verify that the piston is all the way to the top of the stroke without the head in place. Will make my own TDC marks on the flywheel with a black marker at that time too if the factory mark is not really that accurate or obvious.
