Hello, im new to the forum and am in desperate need of assistance. I have a 2012 gorilla motor works 150cc chineses gy6. I bought it new last year and only issue ive had was a bad fuel pump. I get a good 55mph out of it so I often take it on the interstate when I need to get across town. Saturday, while cruizing at full speed down the interstate, I lost all motor power. Electrical was still working. I wear a helmet when I ride and was kinda windy out so I cant say if there was a particular noise at power failure but it felt like I just unhooked the fuel line or something to that effect, just sudden stop. I pulled to the side and ran my electric start, it spins but no ctch at all. I had a buddy pick me up and take it home. I tried spinning the kick start and there is very little resistance but no grinding noise or anything like that. I know my description is fairly vauge but it literraly just stopped on me at full speed. Any suvgestions for a newbie with average mechanical skills/tools or should I just call the shop I bought it from and have em take a look at it? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

My engine did a similar thing at low speeds where the connector for the fuel line to the carb fell off. Could always try there, but you probably would have noticed gas on the ground.

Bad starter clutch perhaps? (causing starter to spin but not engage) cdi unit may be bad or carb jets clogged.

Check your spark plug cable first is it still attached to the plug? Does the bike have spark. Is the plug wet after starting attempts. Is there a strong pulse of air out of the spark plug hole if you run the starter with the plug out?
oh and as always keep it simple is the kill switch in the operate position?

From your description it almost sounds like you have no compression. Did you mean that the starter turns the engine over REALLY fast? And when you kick the kickstart there is very little resistance? It almost sounds like a bad/broken/burnt valve or similar. Just my $0.02...

I went home on lunch to start the tare down, and came across an unfortunate situation, I unplugged the spark plug wire and ran starter to see if any change in sound. I got the same starter sound telling me the plug isnt firing. I pulled the spark plug and it is destroyed on the gap and ground. It appears it was smashed over and over until it broke. Im sure that tells you guys something! Try and let me down gently as I know this is a big issue now...

Total connecting rod failure. There is no easy way down from there. Could just be a dropped valve that banged the crap out of it. Piston failure?? I thought the Gorillas were supposed to be quality bikes? Let's see a pic It may not have been mechanical damage
