The size of the CDI you mentioned matchs a AC CDI, the DC CDIs are bigger and if that bottom wire on the 2 plug registers 12v YOU HAVE THE WRONG CDI. Alleyoop

maybe the cdi is good , just not getting it's signal to fire the coil , from the pick up under the fan cover.
I got an extra cdi from this same symptom. put a new cdi on it and it run temporarily, think I replace the stator and pick up wires under the fan cover.
Old cdi still on my bike , new ones still in the bubble wrap inside the tool box.

All it takes is a simple 1 minute test haven't heard if he did test that wire. Costly just to replace parts and hope whatever part you order is the bad one. If you do a little testing you can find the culprit. Alleyoop

tvnacmanNo I dont ACv or DCv, Unplugged or plugged to the CDI what does this mean. I saw earlier up when Alleyoop said to do it I was preoccupied with other things and forgot, but does this mean the problem isnt even in the traditional 4 spots of fire being the problem? Stator/CDI/Ignition/Spark?? I have been in the wrong system this whole time?

I got the reading by having the key in the on position there is no voltage AC or DC it read minute amounts but it could have just been me moving or something I have a pretty good meter its my gpas who works on arcade games

I've read through all of this and two things stand out 99& of 50cc and 150CC scooters DO NOT have a DC type CDI. Just because it may or may not have a kill wire in that position of any color doesn't automatically mean DC. Some scooters run the kill wire to the coil feed wire between the CDI and coil and you'll never see it unless you open up the harness. Diagram of 6 and 8 coil outputs. The other thing that stands out is it is the standard wire color for a AC type CDI and unless he tells me he has 3 yellow wires going to the R/R from the stator and only one other wire that would be the pick up or pulse coil wire then it's not 3 phase. Now forget measuring voltage from the CDI to the sparkplug coil, they are all different and measure all over the place, with a CDI it is either good or bad, you said you tested the coil on another scooter and it ran so it's not the coil. Now take note of the wire placements on the CDI So we have; a good pulse signal voltage a good AC CDI feed voltage good coil Only one more thing to check, has anyone mentioned kill switch in run position? Also if it does have a kill wire going to the coil wire feed it could be grounding/ed out? Know this sounds dumb, but have you made sure the sparkplug is good? With a good AC type CDI if all is what he says it should run unless any of the other things are present? Also did you buy this scooter used and is it possible someone tampered with the wiring? Also does this scooter have a kick starter? JR

Hey everyone remember me? I finally figured it out. it was what i said it was but the scoot store shop owner said it wasn't. the ignition coil. how did we miss that? Because i was stupid and didn't want shocked because being shocked pisses me off. so me being to high and mighty to get shocked got my now ex girlfriend to guinea pig for me. so we had power to the ignition coil. had power with boot unscrewed and wires exposed had power with small socket stuck where the plug goes with the boot screwed in. It was good so what was the problem once you plugged the spark plug in? A rare problem of the spark plug not making connection with the boot no matter how well you screwed and pushed it in. oh yeah.. good job Chinese peice of made scooter so a new ignition coil later and? Houston we have a nice strong blue arc .. unfortunately its still not running cause i was stupid and let gas sit in it. so now we are cleaning the carb but one jet is paticularly clogged so we are letting it sit in gas... so yeah thank you sooo much everyone for your immediate help at the time thank you all so much but it was just a stupid problem no one could guess cause i was afraid of electricity but oh well... /endthread
