Very expensive for their kit , will need custom fabrication and welding as its not a bolt on kit . A 150cc is a motorcycle and requires a MC license , tag and insurance . In SC I have seen several ride with a moped tag on a 150 but the cops are cracking down on those with a moped tag that go faster than 30 MPH . It is not worth having your scoot impounded as they may keep it instead of having a tow bill , have fines and drivers points on your license . In SC if your caught with no insurance you go to jail and the bond is not cheap .
Many fret over the idea of getting a MC license as some places you must take a MC riding class ( not a bad idea for noobs or veterans ) and basic liability in SC ( states and driver records will vary ) around 100 a year from Progressive insurance . Tag was 15 , 10 to register and 28 in property taxes for me . I zoom almost everywhere I go and have worried I would get a speeding ticket but with a MC and even better a helmet , the cops let me get by with it . I did get pulled over for doing 72 MPH by a state trooper and only given a warning ticket as he was curious what scooter could go that fast . I also had my college parking sticker on the trunk and I was nice to him .
If your are restricted to a moped , I would get a BBK which will have more power and help you go up hill and keep up with traffic on slow roads . A 2T 50 can easily outrun a 4T all day unless it is a Geely or a stand up type as those are single speed chain driven instead of having a CVT like the majority have

As long as you register it as a MC do it!!!
If a cop sees a moped plate fly by at 55 MPH hes gonna be HOT ON YOUR TAIL MAN!!! these cops now days are young men that know about this stuff...lol

Never did one before,,does the manufacturer have instructions,,I would get the motor and parts,,then mock it up to see how it lines up,,make sure you have enough room for everything before you go cutting and welding.

[replyingto=scoots]scoots[/replyingto]I'm not sure exactly where the wleds are either but I know that the engine mounts are on the *other* side of the cylinder, meaning when you go to install it they will be about 10" in the wrong place. From what I've heard you have to fabricate some sort of bracket and weld it onto the frame- also the shortcase 150 is maybe an inch or so longer so the rear bracket might need adjustment as well. Not to mention you have to replace the wiring harness. It really is a project. From what I could gather it is often a lot easier to just begin with a shortcase 150 entire bike and replace a lot of the parts to make it appear as a 50cc bike. i.e. replace the speedo, remove and replace any 150cc identification ("vin" plate, stickers, etc). That's probably what I would do if I was gonna go for it. I live in NC and NOTHING is required for 49cc and under (no insurance, no tags, no drivers license) but if you get caught with a larger displacement motor (unlikey) or doing more than say 35mph (legally 30mph- and a lot more likely but has never happened to me *knock on wood) they can and usually do throw the book at you- tickets for driving with no license (if you dont have one), no insurance, no tags, etc.
