Hi, Please see video to hear the noise I am referring too. This noise just started out of the blue. It is not the valves because they have been checked and adjusted. Thanks in advance for the help.

Thats not good,,might be from the valve tran rocker section,,I wouldn't rule out cam chain or wrist pin either.Time to remove motor and do some looking,,how many miles on it,,was the oil changed and checked often?

Sounds like valves to me. A little ticky-tick is ok but that sounded a little too loud. I'd re-adjust and re-tighten valves and check everything else to make sure cam is properly seated and cam chain aligned to be on the safe side.

Agree sure sounds like the valves are set to loose. Re-check your gaps .003 or .004 INCHS.
And to make sure after you adjust them turn the motor over a couple times and AGAIN set it at TDC and re-check USING the NEXT higher Feeler gauge and it should not slip in. So if you set them at .003 inchs then try to slip in .004 inch feeler and it should not slip in. This way you know they are right and did not move after you tightened the lock nut and saves you the time and work to take off everything again. Alleyoop

I hade something like that happen to one of my dual sport bikes. It was an XL600R, riding along and it just started tapping loud. Pulled over and pulled the valve cover and everything looked fine. I got home and pulled the head off and a valve seat had dropped. The valves seemed to be adjusted but when the valve opened the seat would drop down with the valve, then when the valve closed the seat would come back up and hid the bottom of the head making the loud tick. I took the head to a machine shop and for $40 they put a new valve seat in. Here is a photo of what I am talking about

I had loud valve tapping, it went away after a minute. Checked valves again. Then took for a test ride. I got 2 miles down the road and the engine seized up and the piston rod poked through the case.
Better safe than sorry, I would take that head off and check everything.
I may have still had a scooter without a blown engine. But I sold it and some other guy put his engine in and is enjoying it now.

Can't believe it... Re-adjusted the valves AGAIN and that did the trick. Thanks everyone for the feedback.
