NICE GOING TROUT, Good tip you should write it up and create a thread in the TIP and TRICK SECTION. If you mount it with the modified part up that should also help. Like they say WHERE THEREs A WILL THEREs A WAY. Alleyoop

Thanks Alleyoop....I'll wait to do it 'after' the test run tomorrow....lol....the modified part unfortunately has to go down in this case.....the opposite side screws onto the bottom of the tank. I feel the weld will hold, however,....I have a fuel tank that had been welded last year on my daughters car and it still is leak free. I should have taken more pics during the take apart phase....but that is how I run....fast and furious....I'll take a pic of the installed parts though and how I capped the vacuum at the intake. Thanks again for the words of encouragement....

Well if it does not pan out, just get rid of that petcock hooked up to the tank itself and replace it with this. You can get the parts for a couple of bucks at the hardware store: Gas coupler and then a reducer to fit your fuel line. Alleyoop

This cured all the scooter's symptoms but for how long? Been reading about ethanol laced gasoline and JB Weld......not good....might have to get straight gas in a town across the way. I have time for other options but for now.....happiness!!!! My Rube Goldberg contraption.......

Well the JB Weld did NOT hold.....so I went to my backup plan....my first backup plan.....I used a 3/8 inch long flare gas fitting (got the idea from Alleyoop) and threaded the 3/8 opening with a 1/4 inch NPT tap. Then used a degree angle. tightened things up and had a leak at the flare....removed it and sealed the threads with a bar of soap....re-tightened and I might have something here....so far with stuff I had in the garage..... Main point of this post is that JB Weld does not stand up to today's gasoline with it's additives.....
