50cc 2010 jonway is what Im rolling with - To start off My carb came brand new with brand new scooter. after a few weeks the spark plug was black, I replaced it. A week later replaced it again, its a NGK. after just cleaning and replacing every week for two months I popped off the brass cover off the A/F screw and tightened it up. I have always had problems using the electric start except when I have a brand new plug. I started tweaking the screw to where my plug looks great after a week. The kick start has always worked!! last week I stooped for gas after a hot 30 min. ride and scooter wouldn't start so I went to kick start and I think I summoned the Hulk with in because I broke the case around the kick start so I had to walk home with it. I couldn't start it because the gears in side were all loose n stuff. So I live in Las Vegas and it has be kinda hot out here around 120 degrees as the high so I dont know if that caused my problem. I replaced the case and installed the kick start. It is nice and tight and started right up. This is my problem when I give it gas it wants to die. the idle is high at the start. my spark plug is nice and clean and freed of debris. I cleaned the carb out the other day but never did get the enricher/choke off to clean that. fuel is flowing from petcock also. I have to hold the electric start for about 30 sec or more to get that to work and after all that being clean and checked I cant get the thing over 25mph.
any ideas anyone

Check your spark. Sometimes with the CDI starts going bad it will cause a low top speed and may make it hard to start. You're lucky to have Scrappy Dog located in Vegas. www.scrappydogscooters.com/
