Put new belt on last month, been running for gear oil 75w90 synthetic...changed grease 2 days ago using 80w90..Today while riding I would be at a steady speed and my rpm would jump up and you could hear a whining type sound...What could be happening to cause this?

You should also grease the rear pulleys. While your there check your clutch springs and movement of the 3 pads (arms) lightly sand the pads and bell.

Might have a gear lube leak getting on the belt causing it to slip..just a guess.

Belt bits could be jammed in the clutch preventing it from engaging fully or the shoes or weights in the cutch may be fracturing due to damage sustaing from the old belt. Has the bike had any buzzing vibrations in the footboards or any fracturing of the muffler welds? This can be a sign of the clutch parts fracturing and putting things out of balance. If you over greased anything in the CVT case there is also a chance that there is now grease on the belt and clutch. Either way you need to open up the CVT and verify that everything is as it should be. You may even find that the drive face is starting to come loose and was not bolted down tight enough.
