You can do that however it was found that the typical GY6 oil pump was not up to the task so it was not a 100% win. Not sure if the higher capacity mechanically driven oil pump that was needed to make this work is still available or not. Some would put in an auxiliary electric oil pump however the cost of doing all this quickly can become cost prohibitive making it cheaper in the long run to just trade in the GY6 on a scooter that already has full flow filtration to support the benefits of synthetic oil including a 6,250 mile oil change schedule. You can't just go by the scientific papers and ramblings on the superiority of synthetic oil as there are some if's involved in making it work out the way you hope it will with a GY6 engine. In the long run it is still just a GY6 and only a $199 to $300 engine that we are spending how many hundreds to protect to get what percentage of additional usage out of? You will get a better return just by running a GY6 scooter with the specified traditional oil and oil change schedule in the 50 mph and below speed range that it was originally designed to operate in.

You know what? I didn't like the idea of synthetic in the first place, because of previous experiences with it. My dealer chucked me a bottle of oil,and I didnt see it was synthetic till I got home.I started this thread to get an opinion, and boy did I Anyway, I threw caution to the wind, and put it in anyway. Here is my conclusion: I am taking it out, and sticking with the Old-school, Tried and true hydrocarbon based OIL.It has served me well for many years in many vehicles, I'm sticking with it as long as it's available. ;D
