My concern is : when you replace a petroleum based oil with a synthetic blend in a scooter, should you flush the system? I have done this on large air compressors, but I dont know if it's even advisable in these small motors. Anybody out there use synthetic? Personally, I'm old school, and prefer OIL, but I try to keep an open mind.So which is better? and should I flush it?

howdy, the synthetic is compatible with any other oil, just like additives have to be compatible to all previous oils. i don't know if there is a study to confirm that, but the statements on the container proclaims it.

i don't know much about oil but i read they produce semi-synthetics which contain a blend of about 70% petroleum oil and 30% synthetic oil so i wouldn't worry about a flush just drain and fill, imo.

Oil is oil. regular dino oil has <2% millennium old cockroach shell in it, semi-synthetic <0.5%, and fully synthetic 0%.
By replacing dino with fully synthetic you have less than 0.1% impurities from previous oil.

I know that I once tried a synthetic oil in a 150H.P. screw compressor, and it was terrible.  This is maybe 10 yrs back. maybe synthetics have improved since then.  I'll try it I guess, |

I run mobile 1 full synthetic..anything to lube better and stay cooler. I run at almost 8000 rps a lot  |

Synthetic oil IS "dyno" oil all they do is order the molecules the way they want them but, all motor oil comes out of the ground. Some just gets a higher level of processing. So that being said it is all compatible. Also I haven't seen any evidence that at least in a air cooled GY6 that it has any advantage worth the extra cost of your run of the mill motorcycle oil...

I piced up this syn blend4-maxum4-50/50/syn 10w40 from the local bike shop.Bottle says its from maxima racing lubricants in calif. It's motorcycle specific, so unless i'm advised otherwise, I'll use it. I just asked him for oil, and he tossed me that. When I got home, is when I noticed.
