So I have this used 2007 Peace Sports 50cc I picked up a couple months back. It only had 554km on it. I got it for a good price and thought it would be an easy fix. Apparently I was mistaken. I've replaced just about everything in this stupid thing and simply cant figure out why it isnt working.
On some advice I got from an earlier thread I replaced the carb. It actually started and I rode it around for a while, but then it quickly died after about 15min of riding.
From what I can gather there is a problem with the vacuum line somewhere. The engine would turn over and all that jazz, but no gas was being pulled into the carb. Thus far I've replaced my petcock, cdi, spark plug to a ngk, set both my gauges to .004, cleaned the gas tank, just recently replaced the intake manifold, and all the air lines with new tubing.
Just now after installing the new intake I tried to start her up and the thing wouldnt even turn over. It just made a really weird noise. It basically just buzzed at me. Tried to kick start it with no luck. And whenever I try to start it regularly I just get that strange buzzing sound.
So to all you scooter doctors out there...whats the problem with my little scooter?

The buzzing sound sounds like low voltage or a bad solenoid. Check for voltage at the battery, starter solenoid and then the starter while trying to crank over (only do this when checking at the starter). Also check and make sure your ground from the battery is good, and your connections are clean.

Sure sounds like a bad battery or a bad solenoid. If you have a VOLT METER check the battery it should read 12.5-12.7 just sitting there. If so JUMP the SOLENOID touch both terminals of the SOLENOID with a screwdriver a piece of wire pliers etc.. and see if it spins your starter and turns the motor over. If it does then your SOLENOID is bad.
If it still clicks or buzzes it will be one of two things bad starter or bad battery. But if you get a volt meter you will know which it is. If you have a car(NOT RUNNING) to jump the battery that will tell you also if it is the battery or starter at this point. Alleyoop

Check the 2 wires going to the coil. Mine were loose and vibration cased intermittent issues. If really loose can just die.

I'm still new to this whole scooter thing. Where exactly is the solenoid?

Follow the large positive wire off your battery to a small important looking box that's it.

So I picked up a battery tender junoir, charged the ol battery up, and it turned over like a charm. I'm still having some major issues though... I got it to start, but it wouldn't idle, so I decided to mess around with the idle screw on the carb. In the process my battery went completely dead again. Had it 100% charged last night, and this morning while working on everything it just gave up on me! Is this just a bad battery? Should I go grab a new one? Or is there something in the circuitry thats causing it to die so fast? If its possible I know less about electric stuff than about motors. So any suggestions you have would be amazing.
Also Can anyone help me with the idle situation? The scooter just dies whenever I can get the battery to hold a charge long enough for it to start.

If only there was a way to test the battery/electrical system...
Wait there is. Start with the easy one. Take your battery to any place that sells batteries and have them test it. If it is good ask them for a multimeter. When/if you get home with a multimeter let us know and we can walk you through checking the charging system. Your bike needs to be able to stay running to do any carb adjustments...

Also check wire connectors especially the one that has wires from the stator running into it. I have been chasing my tail off and on for over a year and finally starting tearing plastic off the front figuring I had a bad connection. Plugs were all seated, but NOT the wire coming coming from the stator. It was bouncing around in the connection at the back of the plug. I wanted to beat my head against the wall. Finally! Then the *engine* started rattling? Wasn't the engine. The rear wheel bearing was toast (only 21K miles). Just when you think you know it all about your scoot

So the battery turned out to be no good. I replaced it and it started right up. It was awesome...sort of. It still wont idle for anything. I read up on how to adjust the idle mixture, but I just cant seem to get it right. mainly I cant get my scooter to idle without the back wheel turning. it just gives up and dies on me if i turn it any slower. Any advice?
