Hey guys,
Im looking to purchase my first scooter. I settled on 150cc because I plan on riding on state highways, which are usually 40mph.
I found a 2007 Shenke Whip with 1, 550 miles on it. Apparently, it does not start, due to needing a new battery. Cosmetically perfect. It was apparently her ex husbands, the title signed over to her. I get the impression she just wants it gone.
I plan on buying or borrowing one to bring with me to make sure that's the problem.
I talked her down from 550 to 400 for it.
Is this a relatively safe purchase? Good idea? Bad idea?
Thanks.
Edit: Upon more research, Shenke is a subsidiary of Jonway.

Seems totally worth it, imho. If anything is wrong with it the forum will be here for you to diagnose and fix all your problems. Just make sure to the a PDI and you're set Edit: When I got my scooter, off of craigslist, it was very hard to start, and it would barely go 25mph. After a valve adjustment and some other upgrades I'm doing 45 on flats now. Don't be scared if it won't start on the first try; it takes work getting it to that point.

I would also take a jump box to start it. If you can get it started and it has other issue you can adjust the price you're willing to pay.

Hi Whether the scoot has a good battery is irrelevant, if its in good shape it should be able to be kick started If you cant get it going by the kicker or different battery i would think twice about buying it, it may have more problems then your capable of fixing without putting a good amount of money and time in to it Take care and ride safely Yours Hank

I have looked at a ton of scooters that said they needed a battery and about half didn't have a kick starter on them. So, taking a jump box, cables, or battery would be relevant.

Hi My point was if the scoot has a kickstarter and it should being in perfect shape according to the owner you should be able to start the bike regardless of the battery's condition using the kick starter and if that doenst start the scoot then their could be bigger problems then just a dead battery Take care and ride safely Yours Hank

Then we agree that getting it started is important. If it runs that will be a great deal. I just sold a 50cc for that price to a kid from Ireland that's just working at the beach for the summer.

[replyingto=scootnwinn]scootnwinn[/replyingto]That 1979 Honda Express would look good sitting next to my spree. To bad it's so far way from me.

Ya I wasn't sure how fast he wanted to go so I excluded a lot of nice 50's but that one was too cool and the elite 80 would probably perform about as well as a Chinese 150
