geh - What do you do with the line that goes to the top of the carb? Is that one unnecessary also?
I can't remove the fuel pump completely, Mine is a touring model and my gas tank is below my carb so that won't work for me. If I don't see anything wrong with the clutch or variator I am getting a Mikuni pump though and yanking hte gas tank to clean it out.

Well, I give up. Yanked thegas tank today, Cleaned it out and blew backwards through the gas line to make sure it was clear. Also yanked apart the variator and clutch assemblies and cleaned/lubed everything and scuffed the clutch pads, bell and V's for the belt. % sure the issue is still there...Will know 100% on the way home tonight but it still felt the same when I tested it earlier. I don't know what else to check, Motor has good compression and obviously has spark/fuel. Frustrating.

Oh, forgot to add that I bought a Mikuni pump for it today too.
And issue is still there....Just an annoying lack of top end power. Only managed 52 mph on flat ground on the way home in nice cool weather. I don't know what else to try really, There is nothing else in the system for me to mess with. Maybe it's a bad carb? I thought if I had carb trouble it would idle poorly though.
Idk, any thoughts or help would be appreciated...
Also what temps are acceptable for the 150's? I am around 220 after a 10 mile 50 mph trip in 65-70 degree weather. which I think points to it running lean, Pretty sure last year I barely hit 200

No possible solutions eh??? damn...
I will update the thread if I finally figure something out, Today the scoot ran awesome until I stopped and put some gas in it then it went back to the low power issue the rest of the way to work.

From what I understand what you decribe as a low power issue it because the speedo does not read around 55mph and is reading a little over 50. But I have to tell you the speedos are not accurate and many times do not register the same all the time. Also a 150 is good from anywhere fro 50-55 most will only hit 50 and a little over. Also the motors on the scoots do not run the same all the time and some times will produce a little more power than others.
The wind has a big effect on the speeds as well a wind at 5mph you will run faster but at 7-8 and it will slow the scoot down so not much of a difference in wind effects the speeds on the scoots. Not so much the motor but it holds them back. And a couple of miles per hour one way or the other is very hard to tell because the speedos are not that accurate when they register.
You could try giveing the Fuel ratio screw 1/4 turn clockwise if worse turn it counter clockwise 1/2 turn because you turned it clockwise 1/4 originally. Alleyoop

Alley - I use a GPS for my speedometer, The stock one is off almost 15mph so I got the GPS. It's not so much a lack of top end as it is just a lack of power overall...The scooter runs as if it's at 80% throttle instead of 100%, The motor sounds different and the power just isn't there. It ran fine up until 2 weeks ago and I didn't change anything at that time at all on the scooter. If it was just a top speed issue I think it would be easier to solve. Pretty much when it's running like normal and I give it WOT is has a certain amount of noise/power that goes with it, When it's doing whatever it does and I run WOT it sounds and feels like I am at 80- % throttle instead. I have also checked my throttle cable, tires, vacuum lines, air/fuel mixture etc.. trying to figure this stupid problem out.

geh --- The belt is just about 2k miles but looks in good shape, I checked it when I had the cover off the other day. I will have to check my RPM tomorrow.
I yanked the carb again today and was messing with it and noticed the diaphragm was sticking and would not slide freely so I sanded it with some 1000 grit and cleaned the hole on the carb that it slides in real good and it still acted up. On the way home though it was Jeckyll and Hyde, Would act good then bad at times. I ordered a replacement carb on Ebay since my buddy needs one anyway (his Taotao has the non-adjustable carb) so I am going to try it and see if there is a difference. May swap belts in the meantime just for the heck of it.

Did u say your gas tank is below the carb.? Also check rpms at top speed when u get the chance.

When belts ware you will sometimes have to go up on roller weight to bring the rpms back down. I have seen belts hit higher rpms and loose top end as they ware and 2000 miles sounds about right.

Hmmmm, interesting. What size main jet are you running? Have you tried shimming your needle at all? Also check and RE-CHECK your float height. And, with the miles she has on her, I would check your cam chain adjuster's tension as well. Good luck!

woodman - 115 main (have intake and exhaust done on it) and haven't messed with the needle. Not sure how to check the float height and not confident enough to mess with any engine internals....If that's where the problem is she will get a for sale sign.
geh - hmm, I will swap it out then. I have a Gates for a spare, I just didn't swap when I pulled the cover because everything looked good in there. Gas tank is level with carb so the output is below it, I have a pump instead of just a petcock. Will check my rpm's later today and report back.
Thanks for the help!

ok, 40 mph = 6400rpm and 52 mph = 7400 rpm when it's acting up. Haven't swapped belts to test that part of it yet.
Update - Swapped the belt, RPM is the same as the old belt at both speeds. Barely hit 50 also. New carb, diaphragm & spring on the way...Going to mess with it more when that stuff gets here.
