I tried taking pictures throughout the process, but at one point my hands got covered in oil and there were no more pictures after that. But, for anyone that wants to see pictures of the process; here they are! s1285.photobucket.com/user/Lykos23/library/You'll notice the basic procedure of removing the bolts, nuts, screws, carburetor, and then all of a sudden my scooter is hanging off a chair still attached to the engine. It's a miracle I got everything back together

Great work. I have been keeping up with your other thread also. I'm guessing you have a lot more power on take off and hills but how much if any did you get on the top end?

[replyingto=desmerwebb]desmerwebb[/replyingto]Thanks! I hope at least some of what I'm posting is useful, haha. I have yet to break in the top end because I've only driven 20 of 50 miles to break it in yet so I don't know how fast of a top end I can get. I know that I can reach my previous top speeds at only about 50-75% throttle now though. Hills seem like flat ground, takeoff is ridiculous, and acceleration is phenomenal.

OK, that's all i can handle. I'm ordering myself a kit within the next 5 days. lol. Of all the scooters i have had in the last year my favorite just happens to be the slowest one and its killing me.

The 50 mile break-in you are talking about was not what alleyoop meant. He meant you shouldn't try to see what the top end was until after you had 50 miles on it. I would break-in for at least 300 miles meaning constant throttle fluctuations through out the rpm range. WOT is ok just don't hold it for more than 15-20 seconds.

I thought WOT was just completely off limits until I hit 50 miles, and then I was going to change my oil, then again at 500, then maybe every 1000. Now I'm kind of confused as to when I should change my oil though. I really appreciate all the help, Scootnwinn. Especially with the exhaust gasket; I didn't even recognize the thing!

Noticed you have a PAIR system on it you should take that off and Block up the hole on the head with a metal piece and then just block off the Vacuum going to the Valve. You can buy the metal plates for it or make your and that will clean up the engine bay to get at things much easier and less chance of problems. Alleyoop

No WOT until 50 miles. I would change the oil at 100 miles then increasing amounts of WOT to the 600 mile point another change at 300 miles, if no metal bits give her a little more, if there are, continue the gradual increase until you are running normal at 600 miles. Change it one more time then resume normal riding and oil and change schedules. Oil is cheep engines aren't just use a basic motorcycle grade 10 W 40 for the break-in then a synthetic if you want but I would just stick with the regular as it won't be in there long either way right

Should something be done if there are metal bits?

No, you would just be gentler with it if they are still there. What you are waiting for is all the creation of metal bits to stop. When this is done you are basically finished breaking it in. If they are gone at 300 and they may be because the crank wasn't replaced you can get on it harder than you would if they were still in there...
