A. I assume it starts kick starting it. B. I assume you have lights working. The above tells me juice is getting to the Ignition So I would suspect your brake switch is bad or a bad Solenoid.
IF NO JUICE TO THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WITH THE KEY ON THEN MOST LIKELY THE FUSE IS BAD. They make look good but are not so is this is the case REPLACE with a NEW FUSE. Just do not look at it unless you have a volt meter or 12 light tester to test BOTH SIDES of the fuse to see if juice is flowing through the fuse.
1. Most always use the LEFT BRAKE SWITCH WHEN STARTING TRy the RIGHT BRAKE-- do your stop lights come on? 2. Do you hear a clicking noise when you press the start button(IF SO YOUR SPOLENID IS BAD). 3. Check the YELLOW AND GREEN wire going to the Solenoid WITH THE KEY ON and squeeze the brake TRY BOTH BRAKES. If your brakes lights come on but no juice on the Y/G wire then trace the wire back. The juice from the BRAKE SPLITS one wire goes to your brake lights and another to the SOLENOID.
The Battery sends juice to the KEY when you turn the key on it sends juice to the rest of the system. The start button all it does is GROUNDS the SOLENOID to complete the curcit when pressing the brakes. Alleyoop

I've had mine do that a couple of times. Seems the wires on my starter-button have a tendency to come loose. I've pinched and diddled with them until they finally seem to stay put. One more time and I think I'll install a high-quality aftermarket Japanese-car-style "big-starter button"... AND solder the doggone wires on!
Those pesky wires are one more item to check.
Hope this helps...

My issue is usually the brake light switch - or both go bad. Easy to check. turn on the ignition, squeeze each brake lever. Got brake lights, then look at the starter button. No brake lights with either or both brakes, then check the connections and the switches for the brake lights.
