well heres what happened
this was around the first or second week of january i think.
I called MAXPARTSLIST.COM because they were the only place i could find this brake master reservoir i was looking for and I didnt want to make a bunch of different orders so I called to see if they had what i needed in stock, including some parts they didnt list online.
I spoke to Will, who said he was from the "front office" but was helping bc they were getting busy. he told me about how they had bought out a bunch of warehouses of china parts and had most everything in stock. i discussed with him what i needed at length to be sure i received the correct parts
i was getting stuff for a carter talon 150 dune buggy. two brake master resevoirs, a reverse cable, and two sets of steering rack boots.
after a couple weeks i wondered where my stuff was. after a month i finally got a small box. one brake master and a reverse cable, and a card that said that the rest of my parts was shipping "from one of their OTHER warehouses" (they dont have other warehouses)
i tried calling at this point before i saw the card, but couldnt get anyone. after a few days of calling i got someone that assured me my other parts were on the way, but couldnt give me tracking info
after another month of not answering emails or phone calls, i get a package. its two sets of steering rack boots. i had discussed with Will these parts because one side is six inches longer than the other. he described them back to me in detail, so i assumed he knew what i needed. what i got were four boots all about six inches long.
I called and surprisingly got someone. they said to send them pics. I did, and their first reply was that no, they were correct. im like lady i think i can tell when ive recieved the wrong parts, these WILL NOT FIT one should be SIX INCHES LONGER than the other. she asked for pics of what i needed which i sent back immediately, with a reminder that i had still not received my other brake reservoir. she said she would make sure it was sent out and would send the pics to their tech department.
i called. i emailed. i called and emailed at the same time. spoke to someone once who said they would go up front and "light a fire" under someone to get things going. once i got someone who put me on hold, came back and said they had found my parts just sitting on the shelf and would make sure they were sent right away, but couldnt afford me any tracking info.
every time i called, i had to hit 3 for parts. if you hit 2 for customer service, it gives you a recording saying all customer service is done via email, and then hangs up on you. every time i spoke to someone in parts, they were able to find my order without problem. im explaining these details because of my last communications with "Will"
by april 18th, i was infuriated. my customer was very close to stealing the unfinished buggy from me because i had it so long. I began calling on a daily basis leaving messages, emails took too long to write at that point because i would get mad and rant. I called and called and when i got an answer, i asked for Will.
somehow, will had answered the phone. I told him who i was, my company name, and that i had placed an order with him directly, and asked him if he remembered. He scoffed and claimed they did thousands of orders a day and that there was no way he would remember every one... however when i said "well ive been waiting on my parts for a long while now and need to either get my parts or a refund." he seemed to know EXACTLY who i was, immediately came back with "i thought that was already taken care of" to which i explained it most certainly hadnt, and that i had called many many many times to check on my order and couldnt ever get them to fulfill it.
at this point, Will tried to tell me that I shouldnt be calling his parts desk and bothering them because they dont have access to anyone's order info, (they had no problem finding it when i called before) that i should have went thru customer service (the recording that hangs up on you)
i explained that i had no problems with folks at his parts desk finding my order, and that one guy had even claimed to find my parts on a shelf. he then said "oh yeah i saw those steering boots, they had sit in the warehouse so long they were old and dry cracked, i wouldnt send those out to anyone!" to which i explained to him that he should have called when he didnt have the parts in stock or as soon as he knew he had problems with getting me my parts. i explained how i had emailed them so many times with no response and called and left so many messages that no one could return. i told him i was just going to need a refund.
mid sentence, he said something about customer service again and transferred me to the recording that hangs up on you. i called back and he wouldnt answer. i called 5 more times. then an email popped up in my inbox:
***********************************
"Here is the tracking for the 2nd order. Anytime you receive a part you do not want you will need to send the parts back first for the refund."
the tracking number given was the second package with the wrong steering rack boots. it delivery date was feb 28. i tried calling again no answer. before i could send a reply email i recieved this:
"Hey this is Will and the warehouse did send you those boots again (9400110200828682085916 1st Class mail and it shows delivered) , so now you will need to return the first ones you received or be charged for them. Thanks

here is my reply:
first ones? Will, You need to either give me a call so we can discuss this without you hanging up on me, or if you are too afraid to speak to me on the phone you may want to just check over your records again because you obviously do not even know what you have and have not sent me. Do you seriously think I have time to call you over and over again about you sending me parts that I supposedly already got almost two months ago? Do you think that im trying to get a refund on half of a hundred dollar order because im trying to get over on you? I've wasted over 50 dollars in my time trying to call and email you about this , and I am really not interested in wasting any more. Call me when you get this so we can have actually resolve this mess, and if i dont hear from you then i will have to assume that this is no accident, and that you are attempting to intentionally defraud me."
**********************************************
again a reply from Will:
Sir, first of all, you are calling the parts counter for shipping information and it tells you on the website, in your confirmation email, and in the paperwork you received in your order, and at the switchboard when you call in not to call the parts counter for shipping, or customer service, because we do not have that information.
Secondly, we did not hang up on you we transferred you to the correct department.
Third, we sent you (2) sets of boots and we have also sent you both tracking numbers
fourth, sending some stupid rude email with untrue statements just shows that you do not understand and have time to waste, but we don't. We sent you what your ordered and there are delivery confirmations for both shipments. You need to return one of the sets or pay for them. tip: when you order parts don't guess on measurements.
**********************************
dont guess on measurements? i hope all of you who are reading along are remembering the part where i called and spoke to Will directly, and discussed with him the buggy i was ordering parts for, and the sizes of the steering rack boots, and how they were one long and one short for a two seater steering rack etc etc.
this obviously called for a serious reply. here it is in all its glory:
************************************
Yes Will, I was calling the "parts counter" as i call it, because thats where i ordered my parts. I didnt call the "customer service" desk or "shipping" desk because obviously THERE IS NONE. if there were, maybe one of them might have emailed me back one of the several times i inquired about my order. you seem perfectly fine with taking down my credit card information, but seem to be not so ready to fulfill the order I made. funny how every time i was able to get thru to the "parts" desk they were able to find my order and shipping information... which you claim they do not have... even though you personally took the order, answering the parts desk phone.
you DID hang up on me because you very well know theres no one at that extension, and that i was in the middle of trying to ask you about the parts that i was told would be shipped to me several times in the last month that have not been shipped, ever.
my "stupid rude" email that contains TRUE statements is one in a series of emails of increasing frustration and exasperation
with the PISS POOR customer service I have received AFTER you took my credit card information. You obviously do have time to waste because you havent spent any time getting my order right, completing my order or figuring out how badly you have screwed up this transaction.
Your packaging said to make a return on a wrong part, i need to immediately request an RMA number (which is how i assume you would know who to refund money to) which i did, (the same day i received the incorrect parts) and never received one even after multiple emails back and forth, and several phone calls. You still tell me to return these parts and still do not give me any RMA number. if you do so much business how would you even know who to credit?
tip: follow your own advice- you took my order and we discussed what buggy these came from, what they looked like, and that one was SIX INCHES LONGER THAN THE OTHER. You said "oh yes I know exactly which ones you are talking about, one long one short" there was no guessing involved except i guess on your part.
Now, like i have told you several times, you NEED to call me and straighten this out. You obviously have no idea what you are doing, because if you did you would have realized these errors several times by now. You have charged my card and not sent me everything i ordered, and now you threaten to charge my credit card for something you never sent, yet you claim I've already received. Where I come from we call this fraud. If you are attempting to defraud me like I imagine you are then I fully expect you to charge my card, but if you actually intend to run a legit business then i suggest you pull your head up out of wherever its gotten stuck and take care of this immediately, starting with a phone call to me so you can actually find out how badly you screwed this up and apologize for your inexcusable business practices.
***************************************
and his one line reply:
"You received your parts and parts you have not paid for and sending all the emails will not change the truth . Stop harassing us."
*******************************************
at this point im basically writing emails for the credit card company to see later on:
"No will, I have not recieved all my parts, nor have i recieved anything i have not paid for, and YOUR protesting WILL NOT CHANGE THE FACTS. your "truth" is based on a piss poor inventory and records keeping system that has failed in keeping you informed as to what the is going on. Since you continue to claim that you have sent my parts (which you have not, and I do have emails, pictures and evidence of this) and refuse to even begin to attempt to correct the problem i am guessing this is a blatant attempt to defraud me. I will be contacting my credit card company and have them issue a charge back for the order you have not fulfilled and refuse to fulfill, as well as have them investigate you for credit card fraud. I will make sure they deduct the amounts of the only two correct parts I have received, as I am not a con artist and have no desire or intention of ripping anyone off. "
*******************************
again a one liner:
"Well we have confirmation that it was deliverd and we have sent you the tracking more than once."
I have several drafts of emails i began to write in reply, first and foremost asking him what "it" was supposed to have been confirmed delivered, but realized i was just talking to a wall at this point. the confirmed delivery of the incorrect boots was the tracking he kept sending, which was on the same day i first emailed them the pics of incorrect parts. it would be a simple thing to check, but obviously too complex at this point for Will to understand.
I contacted my CC company and asked them to put a hold on any further charges from them and refute the original charge. They seem to be cooperating with me, and i made sure they noted that i was not the first to have this kind of problem, afterwards i checked and they had many similar complaints from customers online on different complaint sites.
moral is, research your online sellers. I figured because it was in texas, and i had spoken to a real person and they told me they had stuff in stock, that id get my parts faster than ordering them from china. turns out they still came from china, but i had to deal with some jerkwad wannabe middle man here first.
