The Mana 850 new is only available in the GT version which has a base price of around $11,000. A 130+ mph capable bike that is a bit heavy and costly to maintain due to the computer controlled CVT. Be prepared for the possibility of a $1,500 bill for annual services if you end up going through a belt each year.
Fuel enonomy on the Mana is a bit of a dissapointment to with many getting below 45 mpg from them due to their being geared more for spritely performance instead of economy. No fuel gauge either.
I have considered the Mana 850 however with the Automatic Honda 750 available for a bit less money that gets 80 mpg it is hard to justify.
Being less expensive than the Honda the Piaggio BV350 then ends up becoming the more logical choice with its 400/500cc performance and 250cc fuel economy. Not too heavy and yet very interstate capable.
I will probably be sticking with my Aprilia Sport City 250 for a while though as it has been rock solid reliable these past 16,000 miles rain or shine and has so far done everything I need reasonable well in town, running winding country state roads or touring on the interstate.
Of course if a real bargain came along such as a factory incentive on the Mana bringing it down to around the $5,000 range or the BV350 to $3,500 I might cave in and upgrade.

You can get a used Mana for around $5K, sometimes less. Mileage isn't an issue, that's not why I would buy the bike. The Honda is ugly, in my opinion, so I wouldn't get that.
My wife really wants a motorcycle, which is why we looked at the Mana, because she wants an automatic. We're now looking at scooters because of the size issue. I'm hoping she loves it and wants to stick with scooters.

I was looking at a used 2009 Non-GT Mana with the Leo Vince exhaust for $5,000 and some change at the local dealer but it is not that clean and has been raced a bit and beat on. Yes the Honda is ugly but I am cheap and the budget usually comes first.
The best deal ended this past fall when the Sport City 250 came off a 1+ year span being on a factory incentive for $2,999.
The BV350 is a new engine design and the bike itself says quality from the seating to the paint along with that new boxed stroke wet clutch engine. It would probably have a better chance of keeping up with your Guzzi than a sub 250 scooter.
If she keeps getting left in the dust by your bike the chances of her not liking the scooter will increase greatly.

She needs to learn to ride it, and get comfortable on the road. I'll be behind her, guarding her back from the idiot cagers here in Atlanta! Once she's ready, we'll upgrade it to something bigger that can keep up.

$16,000 scooter that didn't sell well at all. The Honda Rider's Education center by me has about 10 they are trying get rid of at $6,000! You do know what DN-01 stands for, right? Do Not Own 1Seriously, probably a good bike, that never sold well, but I just don't like the looks. Also, probably too heavy for my wife right now.

To get the scooter experience full circle get any scooter. It doesn't matter which. Then observe how your mind works.
Get one you hate,, then figure out why you hate it.
It's a blast.

OK, we made the deal on the Vespa and will be picking it up tonight. We're both very excited about it. It'll go well with my Guzzi! I love the Italian styling, and while the Kymco fit my wife better, she just felt everything was nicer on the Vespa. We'll post pics when we get her home.
Thanks for everyone's help and input!!

Yeah, the price I'm sure killed it for pretty much everyone. And I believe it didn't have enough power for the bikers, and had zero storage for the scootists. Still, don't you just get a kick out of a bike that grins at you? >'Kat, wishing she had $6000, plus airfare, to come buy a red one.

Seriously Hankers, you really should get one. Instead of the big heavy whatever you said you were going to get. Only $6000.
While you're at it, get two. Still less than the original full price. Get the second one in red.
(imagine innocently whistling smiley here)
>'Kat, who would be willing to help out her dear friend and ride his second DN-01 so it wouldn't just sit....
